Why? ;) And pay 200% the price of JQ, no thanks.

However it's good news for the JQi fans out there *hands up* :) :)
Was meaning more that it would be nice for QF to have Dreamliners and be able to announce them on that route with the new Business class suites :)

Going to Hawaii next Sunday with QF A330 with Skybed Mk1 at least a better J product than 767

I doubt QF will ever put a decent product on this sector

JQ787 Star class is crap so give me a skybed mk1 over this any day

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't QF the only direct option with a bed once the 330 starts here. Plus you'll have the new product on the route eventually?

From a traveller's perspective - JQi should get them
From a shareholder's perspective Qi should get them.

Now JAL has upped the ante for B787 seating:

If Qi put that product to HNL then that would be a competition beater. JAL using them from 1Dec14 for similar flight times as Aust East Coast to HNL.

NO! JAL not flying from Aust to HNL.

JAL are flying several of their equivalent flight time routes as the Aust East Coast to HNL.

Just wishing that AJ & Co would put on a similar product.

Guys, I must admit that I am wrong. It is not good news for JQ fans such as myself because I booked some flights last night and when I saw the seat map I almost cried. 3-3-3 seat config is not good for me and the +1 because we much prefer the 2-4-2 seats as we can be coupled and never need a third wheel/seatmate.

You should select window & aisle and hope for a shadow.
Worked for me many times on JQd.

Not likely to happen on JQ3/4 as a good time of the year they are running at close to capacity.

I am also in the same problem, the 2 others I fly with are both aisle people, and I prefer a window, which
was easy to do with the 2-4-2 config... 3-3-3 means we either take a risk of having someone join us or we
just sit together, for which we have selected seats pending review closer to the 19th of Feb.

(otherwise we sit back in rows 54-55 which are 2-3-2, but that is not likely to happen in my lifetime)

Latest stats for JQ are June 2014, but really need to take with July (not out yet) as school holidays hit outbound in June (91.2% capacity for entire month).

For some reason I think that only covers revenue passengers, not staff travel.

For those that travel on these sectors would understand, you usually have up to and over 25 staff trying to get on the flights most days.

When I was there a few weeks ago, there were 30 pax travelling as staff/family with only 19 seats scheduled to be available.

Some of them had been lined up at check in since 4am trying to ensure the best chance of getting on the flight.

From personal experience I know this happens more often than not, which totally throws the 79.9% & 91.2% figures out the door.

Good question - I'll ask for certainty, but I understand the figures come from flight passenger lists/manifests.

I just checked with my neighbours, both QF CSM's and he said he thinks staff travel will not be included in seat utilisation figures.

He also logged into his magic iPad and showed me the waitlist numbers for all JQ3/QF3 & JQ4/QF4 flights for the next month, plus just as many
AD75, AD90 bucketed fares... On average there were 10+ pax on every flight with seating to be confirmed.

We also have an A332 JQ Captain who lives 2 doors up who I regularly see on the HNL flights, I will see what he says next time I see him... and ask the question what will he be doing with the transition to the 788's (he was originally with QF mainline before going to JQ 5-6 years ago)
