To celebrate the launch of the 787 Dreamliner on the SYD to HNL sector Jetstar have a special fare of $299++

Screen Shot 2014-09-12 at 8.49.48 am.jpg

Fares are not available on all flights or days. Limited availability over public holiday weekends and school holidays.
Sydney - Hawaii (Honolulu): 03 Feb - 18 Feb 2015 (not operated by 787 Dreamliner), 19 Feb - 26 Mar 2015 (operated by 787 Dreamliner).
Sale fares are available in both directions

Any business fares? (I presume the 787 has business?)

The basic business fares were showing as $1,399 which is pretty much what they have been around that time

I have been watching those dates for some time now as I was going to book flights on the 18th

Instead, flying on the 19th and a nice discounted fare as well

I also booked the 19th, see you on the flight :)
The best part is the JQ starter plus bundles earn points and SC as per the economy rate not the discount economy rate. So the flights on sale and I still get me 45sc each way!

Yes, the 9,000pts (WP) and 45sc's each way come in nice and handy...

This will be my 3rd JQ3 flight in the space of 6 months with another a few months later...

As much as I like the A332's, I will be glad the 787 is on that sector.

Whilst all but one of my JQ3/JQ4 flights in recent years has resulted in a paid upgrade coming available, and taken, I much prefer IFE units that are installed over the iPad option... Plus, I am a fan of the 787

We will both be Gold by then :( so we won't run into you in the lounge. But still the 75% points bonus is welcome.
When the points and sc is the same as QF syd-lax only cheaper I am happy to miss out on Disneyland (the only reason I go to LA, in 'n' out burgers to me are the worst so thats no reason for me to go to LA)
I haven't been on a 787 yet, it will be our first one as I don't think we will book any travel between.

For that trip I will be bypassing the FLounge and going to the regular Qantas Pub as I will have 2 guests

Aside from a few days on the islands, I always use the JQ3/4 flights as positioning flights to the mainland.

There is a reason I have held an Annual Passport to the Disney theme parks for pretty much every year over the past 15 years... and cheap flights which get me 2/3rds of the way there come in VERY handy

Oh so we might see you in the lounge then.
I thought you had to be a Californian resident to get an annual passport to disney? Not that we go to mainland USA often enough to warrant it anyway.

That is only for the discounted Southern Californian resident AP's

I usually get the Disneyland Premium passport, which sadly has gotten a lot more expensive over the past few years (used to be $479 only 2-3 years ago, now $699) and occasionally the Premier passport which is valid at both WDW & D'land (I am in Orlando for over a week every year due to a work related trade show, so every few years do the parks there, + Anaheim (Sadly though that passport is now over $1k + tax))

Well yes not real J, but hey the price difference is massive.

when they have a sale its either $999 or $1099 on J, but then its $899 to add the bundle on to it so J is never on sale with a bundle with JQ, not to HNL anyway. I think its actually all international destinations like that but I am not sure because I don't look at all of those options. If you want J its almost cheaper to fly QF, once QF has the new J seats to HNL it would be worth the $ difference over JQ. Neither option is going to be a steal in J though. I am happy in Y, happier if there is a seat or two empty next to me so I have some extra space.

There are those who will argue that the JQ definition of Business doesn't meet the accepted definition of Business.

JQ Business is good value, especially for medium length flights. There is a bit of an issue with some seats when pax recline - however the service is cheerful and friendly and the food is of the same standard as QF. The difference is you are not getting a flat bed. Having just flown back on a QF A330 - from Singapore with their uncomfortable J seats - I think the JQ seats are that far behind. When you compare the significant price difference between QF and JQ - its certainly worth it - and you get the same status credits and points if on JQ as QF you have paid for the bundle. However, if price is not a problem then we would be happy to fly QF in J. I have seen a number of disparaging remarks about JQ Business class - and many of them are just snobby - it is a LCC - you pay for what you get and J gives you good value IMHO.

Have done J on JQ SYD/HNL, problem was bird in front had seat all the day back for whole flight.

Best Y seat was 2nd row 35K/J exit on QF, had huge amount room to seat in front

"Bird", you sweet old fashioned person, or did you mean a parrot or something?

There is an opportunity to join up w' a Cunard in Feb HNL - SYD. Take HLO over and buy good case at Ross Dress for Less, and fill it up with shopping. That's if Cunard appeals.

JQ Business = Premium Economy.

Is there anyone out there that doesn't do this internal equivalence ?
