The best seat on Starclass is the one you paid $300 for at the airport (after buying the cheapest of the cheap Jetsaver "Light" fare to KL for $178). At $2.50 per SC it is also a guilt-free status run.

But it doesn't feel like "real" business class .... the meals are good but not exceptional, the entertainment unit is a bit of a dog (though the noise cancelling airphones are nice), the seats are a bit too close together, and the (1) toilet seemed a bit cramped. On the other hand I couldn't fault the service and having power to my laptop was a godsend, as my battery is good for 45 minutes if I'm lucky.

Seat selectio itself wasn't a high priorty when starclass is only a third full ...

Cheers

In row 1, The E seat is very good. You have some useful space to the left front that the 2E PAX can't reach.

Also, 1A and 1K have the fuselage narrowing foot space slightly.

Many thanks for your help, has anybody asked and got a ODU at Kansai? If so how much?
Thanks again:D

I saw one guy get an ADU (After departure Upgrade SYD-KIX).

Money did change hands but I'm not sure how much.

(He asked on boarding late, the CSM said he'd see him after take-off, 5 minutes after seatbelt sign went off the guy was in a StarClass Seat).

Reports indicate such ODUs can be arranged in at least two ways:
  1. On Check-in
  2. On Board
The first seems to result in Business SC's and QFF points unlike the second.

The last time I tried was last December, JQ SYD-HNL. The check-in agent said $300 for an ODU, one way.

Thats for *Class as the OP stated all the way via Sydney, its on JQ metal all the way.

Sorry, I didn't know that JQ have frequent * Class flights between BNE & SYD - I thought the connection flight is QF

Not many people do seem to know, its not a bad earner for SC's etc however it often runs late and I have had a 25% success rate of arriving in Sydney but my bags continuing to Japan

Shortly it moves to OOL, interestingly *Class is not being sold on the OOL-SYD leg as a bookable trip!
