JetGo Delays/Cancellations

The DBO - MEB JG42 on Thursday 26 October is exhibiting yet another terrible JetGo delay with this scheduled 1330 hours early afternoon flight becoming airborne at 2000 hours even this evening. VH-ZJE should arrive Essendon at about 2119 tonight, 389 minutes tardy.

On Wednesday 1 November, JG54 from BNE down to WOL, the 1235 hours (and a new flight) took off at 1609. Albion Park arrival will be at about 1841 hours, 221 minutes late for E140LR VH-ZJE.

VH-ZJE on JG59 (1540 hours ex WOL) is showing on FR24 as operating to AVV but this may be a mistake - yesterday and the day before, it showed the flight as 'deviating to MEB', but as far as I know, MEB is its normal destination.

JG70 (1020 hours OOL - ABX, E140LR VH-ZJG) took off at 1121. Expected arrival has become 1401, 51 minutes behind the schedule.

I though JG33 was the WGA - BNE flight but on Wednesday 22 November 2017, it is showing on FR24 as running from WGA down to ABX, with this 1830 hours scheduled flight having taken off at 1933. I suspect its real destination is BNE and FR24 has mucked it up.

FR24 also always shows one new flight ex WOL as bound for AVV but JetGo only normally operate to MEL. Every day FR24 shows 'divrted to MEL' which is not correct as the flight was always meant to terminate in Melbourne not Avalon.

JG had some lengthy delays in 2017.

The first one noticed in 2018 is on Thurday 4 January, with JG70 (0700 hours TSV down to ROK, E140LR VH-ZLG) not taking off until 12505. Arrival should be a minute shy of eight hours late at 1609 Queensland time.

I'd avoid this airline because of its tiny fleet and how it is prone to operating hours late.

JG must again be having 'issues' with its tiny fleet as JG59, the scheduled 1540 hours WOL down to MEB (not MEL) on Monday 5 March 2018 (E135LR VH-JZG) did not take off until 1950 hours this evening. Arrival should shortly occur at about 2103 hours, 183 minutes late.

Monday 12 March 2018 has JG39 from WGA up to BNE (E145LR VH-JGR) likely to arrive at 1934 hours, 39 minutes late.

On Wednesday 21 March 2018, JG75, the 1640 hours OOL up to ROK did not take off until 2131 hours. Arrival for E140LR VH-JZG should be at 2243 hours, 293 minutes tardy.

It's easy to criticise small businesses but in JG's case it often runs late. Given the high fares, this must be extremely disappointing for passengers who are time sensitive.

On Thursday 22 March, JG73 from ABX up to OOL, the 1340 hours did not become airborne until 1750. Arrival of VH-ZJG is suggested at 1835, 245 minutes late.

This carrier appears to have frequent long delays. It cannot provide a spare aircraft at most of its 'ports' so bad luck...passengers play the waiting game.

JetGo's tiny fleet is the domestic version of BI's small medium haul (B788) fleet in that both are subject to cancellation (as no spares) if something goes awry.

However today (Saturday 21 April 2018) JG31, the 1000 hours ABX - BNE, is running but did not take off until 1800. E135LR VH-JGB should arrive at 1948 instead of 1200 'high noon', so 468 minutes tardy.

On Sunday 22 April, JG31 from ABX to BNE, the 1000 hours took off at 1139. Arrival should be at 1325, 85 minutes behind time. Aircraft is E145LR VH-JGR.

Sunday 29 April 2018 has JG30, the 0730 hours early morning BNE down to ABX that did not take off until 0820 hours likely to arrive at 1011, 41 minutes late. E145LR VH-JGR is the aircraft.

Monday 30 April sees JG60, the 0630 hours from BNE down to TMW (E135LR VH-JGB) having attempted to land at about 0802 but it appears to be heading south and possibly diverting. At 0809 it was climbing.

Wednesday 9 May 2018 sees JG60, the 1500 hours midafternoon from BNE down to ABX that did not take off until 1806 likely to arrive at 1958, 178 minutes behind the timetable. Aircraft is VH-JGB.

JG31, the 1815 ABX back up to BNE should be able to depart at about 2020 if all goes well.

Having just caught up with an Albury local, the local parlance for this airline is Jet NoGo.

Needless to say, when on business travel, he uses QF or VA.

Having just caught up with an Albury local, the local parlance for this airline is Jet NoGo....

Very funny: amazing what witty individuals can come up with.

I have not travelled on this airline (and won't in the near future with the very high fares it charges) but from observation its greatest problem is the tiny fleet that inevitably means if there's a problem with an aircraft, no spare is available...anywhere. Full stop (or as the Yanks say 'period.')

I must miss many of the problems as none of us can monitor every flight, but it would not surprise if it's had far more cancellations than I've popped on this attempt at recording delays and cancellations.

Having serious delays (and cancellations) is an impediment to the travelling public having the confidence to book, so with those in the know avoiding JetGo, this must have a negative effect on revenue.

The conundrum for a small business like this must be that expansion even if secondhand aircraft are acquired is very expensive, there are larger competitors such as ZL, the passenger market on routes like BNE to ABX must be pretty small, staffing costs are high and bookings perhaps largely from agribusiness sector (the strength of which is partly linked to rainfall v droughts), government officials including local govt and a few leisure travellers.

If you book on surface transport such as NSWTrainLink, or QF/VA, you know that if there's problems they'll normally get you to where you're going on the same day. Can we be sure this occurs with JG?

JetGo 31 scheduled ABX-BNE service is currently showing an estimated 2140 arrival vs a scheduled 1850......

'Jet No Go' continues with its reputation for unpunctuality as JG31, the Sunday 27 May 1000 ABX up to BNE took off at 1151. Aircraft VH-JGR should be at its destination at 1337 hours, 97 late.

JG entered voluntary administration today.

It has apparently suspended - cancelled - all 'regular public transport' flights but charter operations are said to be continuing.

Anyone with future bookings will I assume be unsecured creditors. Loss of any monies paid is likely.

VA and QF say they'll offer 'discounted fares' - whatever that means - for a month.
