I don't know if this should be here or in it's own thread but this is the most atrocious thing I've ever seen or tasted in a lounge. People were raking through it with the ladle looking in vain for any actual meat or veggies
Dinner in the BNE QF J Lounge tonight. No menu available but I asked the staff and it's Pork Ragu. Tasted as bad as it looks. 01473412014.jpg

I contacted QF via the twitterz and they have replied.
Whoever is responsible for this slop appearing in the J lounge needs a reality check as this isn't a third rate boarding school canteen.

That reminds me of a "Chicken Cacciatore" like dish that was in the MEL J Lounge earlier this year. All sauce and no meat or veggies at all. As soon as they brought out a new batch it disappeared in about 2 mins then nothing again for 20-30min

I guess people must like it if gone in 2 mins! Must be really tasty.

I think the issue was more that there was no food for long stretches of time so what little meat there was was gone quickly. It really did look like slop and it appeared that it was just heated up in a plastic bag and poured into the tray.

In the case of the Pork Ragu I posted above there never was any recognizable pieces of meat at any point in the slop. The dish was served up as pictured.

When I first saw it I thought "Wow that's brave they must be serving dhal with steamed rice". Admittedly dhal isn't the prettiest dish to look at in a bain marie but it's pretty tasty.
It wasn't until I tasted the dish and then asked the staff what it was that the truth became apparent.
Since when was Ragu anything served with steamed rice ?

Had the island dining special for the first time the other day - although I asked for it to be brought to my chair. CBR J lounge, about 6pm. Fried chicken with pickles. Tastier than the same dish I had in the SYD F lounge last year!

Had the opportunity to visit the SYD J Lounge last Friday was delighted that the Plate of the Day was still available (at around 6:15pm).

Was offered the Southern spiced fried chicken with pickles and salted chilli mayo. Chicken was tender and juicy and the mayo had a kick to it but the pickle offered a bit of relief.

Just like the good old party pies days. The locusts would hover and then when a fresh batch were brought out, they'd zoom for the feeding frenzy, departing with stacks of party pies, and leaving only crumbs!

Was surprised that the fried chicken wings were not cleaned out in a flash. The staff were proactively offering guest the dish when they were at the buffet and would bring more out from the kitchen once they were gone.

Lots of takers even though the spicy chilli mayo might have put some people off.

Still happens have no fear, but my last few times in SYD when they've been out (seems to be 3-4ish) they've been good to keep them going and it not be too hard to get more.

Will note again this Saturday as will be there waiting to jump on the Queen of the Skies back to MEL :)

Didn't get a pic but SYD T3 had "Toasted English Muffin with an Egg and Bacon" on the menus for "Island" Dining this morning. All packed up and gone shortly after 8am.
