"Island Dining" in the Domestic J lounges: Tips, Timing & Menus

Nice looking slice of soft cheese. If memory serves correct I got a blue and Parmesan a couple of weeks ago on my last SYD J visit, although I do prefer white bread or sourdough with soft and blue cheese. I guess it's not a big ask to get up from the island and walk the three metres to where the bread rolls are.

I find the cheese selection in the afternoon a civilised way to ease into the dinner offering, especially with coughtail hour now available.

Not Island dining, but ham buns were being offered from the buffet in the BNE J Lounge tonight. And then they brought out pies (beef? Correction: Lamb.) for island dining, though seemed to be walking around offering them to all.

Had the ham buns last Wednesday as well.

I just had a bit of ham. Unusual taste I have not encountered before.

That looks good. I don't seem to travel at the right times to see the afternoon (?) island dining options. The few times I have, they never looked like that.

I have had some good breakfast offerings though.

You've just gotta get to know the bar staff... then they bring whatever they have out for you and deliver it to where your sitting.... ;)

To quote a certain TV show "simple done well ...".

Tasty enough to sate the appetite but light enough that I can still enjoy the salad option in Y on tonight's 463!!
Goes well with the bubbles, too!

Breakfast in the BNE lounge.
Sorry QF. This one is a fail

Bread dry and chewy
Eggs a bit over cooked. But not really convinced about pesto for breakfast.

Tonight's menu and offering in MELImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1432883381.259499.jpg

The pie had a crispy pastry top and really nice chicken and leak filling. This was very nice and one of the better island dining meals I've had

These could have been fuller, but had an acceptable amount off filling. They 'sold' out in 2-3 minutes with lots wanting but missing out.

I agree about the quantity of filling. I enjoyed a couple in the AKL F lounge Monday last. They were very yummy.

Possibly a different Monday, but I enjoyed the prawn and salmon pie in the AKL EK lounge this Monday! Back in AKL in a few days so will try the QF F pies out then!

5 days ago, so I guess our paths crossed as I also spent a couple of hours in the EK lounge as well on the way home from OzFest.

Japanese inspired menu island dining tonight.

Both dish and coughtail were very nice. What a good idea to promote the new QF services to Tokyo.

Damn! Decided to take an earlier flight and missed this. Must have also just missed you by 30 mins, Boomy!
