Flyertalk will be off line for security updates and routine maintenance. Sorry for the inconnvenience.
Past 6am and still no go.

Interesting that there is now no longer any mention of a time for it to come back up ... also the term "security updates" now appears.

Any forum software requires plenty of security updates. Some of the most popular ones have new versions coming out very often to resolve various issues.

FT seems to have "scheduled" outages anytime they have issues. Pseudo code for "oops" methinks.

Actually, I am suprised how well FT does stay up. It is one of the biggest forums on the net based on visitors, volume of posts and members. Their growth must be astronomical.

I just got the message:

I do like the spelling mistake....:D

Doesn't say when it's coming back up.... :(

up and running now....:p:p

edit....oops, spoke too soon!!!:oops:...it's down again!!

Yes, it must. FT now back up for me.

 I typed too soon. Logged in OK, but when it was re-directing to My Flyertalk it hit a DB error. So sneakily i went another way to it and now find it worked. So a bit twitchy.

web4 seems to be working

at least one of the servers is not showing any posts or pms since the outage

What's the point in being the first to get back onto the system? There won't be any new content there since nobody has been able to post anything.

As far as I can see it has been up for about 7 hours.

As I posted last night, I actually need some info off FT for flights & meetings today and the next couple of days so I am quite happy it has come back up.

And yes, I also have moderation things to see to.

I am always behind in reading what's on there. Doesn't matter about new content, I have old content still to get to.

So true!

I have a new message but it does not appear on the list.

For the past 4 hours (at least) new posts (and pms) appear to not be indexing. Makes it much harder to use.

Seems like content including posts and PM made earlier this morning (circa 8:30am) have gone ...

... guess JohnK is referring to an "instant" email notification of a PM.

I did send one, but it appears to have disappeared (not in my sent items).

Now I've sent it again.
