I always love love the look on guests faces when you actually produce a bottle of Russian Vodka - and I used 2 x $20 Changi Vouchers to buy these - great use of vouchers IMHO.

Check out the 1.75ltr Hendricks Gin - now this is a serious bottle of gin!

I had intended to try to get a broad range but in true typical Chinese fashion my photographic intentions were not appreciated and hence my visit to DF Store short lived.

The bloody audacity of them! Don't they understand this kind of information is vital to the int. frequent flyer?

wow, those Penfold's prices sting! St Henri is around $90 - 100 at Dan's et al. I'm finding the prices have also increased on Whisky but not as much as wine. Find that DXB is not a cheap as before. For wine, if I'm in Europe I by at the bottle shop or if I'm close to an Auchan they have a good range at decent prices.

I don't think I've ever bought wine in SIN. Even with the 10% GST and the overall higher AUD/SIN exchange rate, I find that I still get better value for money and range at my local DM. Same thing with Grey Goose and Dom, used to be cheaper at DFS but not so much these days.

whats your impression on the prices in SIN?
In my opinion they are generally quite good in SIN but not for everything.

Jack Daniels SGD41.10 in SIN the other day and in Australia generally AUD40 for 1 and AUD76 for 2 and current special in SYD is $69 for 2.

Johnnie Walker is roughly the same. Gins are much cheaper in SIN as are Vodkas.

DF prices in SIN IMHO can be quite good - as always some items will be keenly priced and others not so sharply priced - as always 'caveat emptor' - for general items like Bombay, Russian Vodka, Baileys etc quite keen and a great way to use the Changi $ Vouchers - but as always YMMV - we are all different.

Not to be mean, but it is stock standard material; Bombay Sapphire, Baileys Irish Cream, J Walker. Would be more interested in feedback on the good Single Malts if anyone has any info

You are not being mean at all - maybe you can add to the knowledge base by posting pictorial representations of the items that interest next time you pass through SIN - the more the merrier.

Thing is, I usually drink stock standard material. The Bombay is less than half the price of DM so worth noting. My bar is currently overflowing, so I've even started buying the novelty drinks, like all those special edition Bundy rums, pretty much to go on the shelf as decoration ... and now I bought all of them as well. It would almost be sacrilege to fly back in with no DF grog, but I can see that day looming!

Absolutely, will do. But they are like these ones which currently reside in the cellar. And agree its almost a sin to not bring back something. And heading into retirement, life to short to drink lagers (or JW), life's too short enjoy the best.....sc1.jpgsc2.jpg

I used to have 12-18 trips a year where D/F is a consideration - these days it's about half that.

Mainly I don't buy these days; about 6 years I realised I have a cupboard with about 50 litres of booze. As I was getting older my consumption had decreased ans supply was greater than demand. I eliminated much by offering much of it up for raffle prizes at my local sports club.

It does not help the naunce runs much of the duty free on gateways to Oz, NZ had competition but that has become not so intense.

Really the savings are no so much there these days and the inconvenience of lugging it, even on just the last sector generally makes it not worth it for me..

We are all different huh - I just posted 2 pics up thread of Bombay and a Russian Vodka which I bought in SIN last nt for total <S$16 after using 2 x Changi $20 Vouchers - cheap and zero effort to bring home - still DF bargains put there if stars align.

Don't you have to travel SQ (or some other esoteric carriers) to get Changi Vouchers?

I must try this Singapore Airline one day. :D

Sure - I'd buy at $15 per bottle - the cost/benefit is there.

Used to get Gin at NZ "Duty Free Store" for about $10 per bottle - but that was a decade ago.

Yes - SQ/MI. Although from time to time QF and JQ and a couple other airlines offer(ed) a single $20, but it's not an ongoing promo like SQ/MI.

Indeed I had to outlay total S$15.80 to acquire the 1ltr Bombay and 1Ltr Russian Vodka after using the 2 x Changi $20 Vouchers. IMHO DF Shopping in Changi apart from staple alcohol items which still a sweet spot but getting OTT price wise in most other areas - Bose wireless headphones S$550 - Sony wireless headphones ~S$580 IIRC - even this last trip because my bookings made prior to Sep 30 I rcvd 2 x $20 Changi Vouchers - all bookings post Oct 1 now receive 1 x $20 Changi Vouchers - still little fish are sweet.,
