Intentionally triggering a targeted 50% bonus SC promo

Very interesting development. Good to compare notes but then I also wonder how much focus QF will pay to this thread to alter the parameters. Reminds me of ASA's and how they were deemed to probably only be booked by a very small group of users, but they too were 'enhanced'.
Are you suggesting that they might still lurk around here?

This isn't a private forum, anyone can browse AFF without an account and might even have an account but never post.

Qantas left AFF as a platform to communicate with frequent flyers, but I very much doubt that was the only thing they ever used AFF for. That would be quite short sighted of them, and I believe they're a bit smarter than that.

I've got my fingers crossed for an SC promo as I have a LHR trip coming up that I'll need to book shortly.

Typically I seem to get something around this time in the last couple of years, inc the "targetted" one about this time last year.

I think QF only target certain destinations and I'm not sure DPS is one of them. I did quite a few searches for DPS last year also and didn't get a single offer, but within a week of searching for CHC an offer arrives. This is the benefit of sharing the info - we may be able to find a pattern...
Ok that's a great idea. To contribute to the list, I searched Canberra to Adelaide last November for flights in November and December and I got a targeted DSC offer exactly same terms as you indicated. I booked to Adelaide and also a few other places too.

I agree that Qantas would be silly not to browse. That said, Qantas's approach to priority boarding (among other facets of its operation) suggest it's not actually smarter than that.

Knowing what customers want/expect and caring enough to implement them are two different things. When they're saving a buck, it's easy to follow through; when it wont save them any money, it makes sense they are slow to do anything about it.

The only real pattern I've seen is that they come on batches. No one mentions it for a month, then one day a bunch of people say they got one.

And in my (recent) experience those who do receive an offer invariably don’t need it :-(

I would say most definitely, the song and dance about the departure of “Red Roo” from this site was IMHO merely a ruse, we as a group became quite guarded when we eventually realised that the “ Lesley Grant “ Rockpool lunches were more than likely a way to engage with a group of people skilled in “point /Status Hacks” and extract first hand the information they needed to close the loop holes in their systems which gave away such amazing benefits as “Any seat awards” I didn’t benefit from too many, but SYD - LHR return in F for about the same as a fare in Y was pretty amazing.
That said they (the lunches) were generally good fun.

I am not far away from LTG, but I have made very few bookings so far in this membership year, in fact I think I am yet to take my first “qualifying sector” , so hoping for the February double SC promotion to materialise, if it doesn’t then I shall burn a few points and forgo WP qualification and take longer to pass 14000 SC’s .

Well I do remember the first one I went to (and the only one) and sat on your table.

Thought I might have triggered something yesterday but it was one of the Qantas ‘deals’ that wasn’t.

I got one or two offers in the last year but never on dates that suited me. One interesting thing I noticed from @sbor90 was visiting Air NZ website which I never tried. That would fit in with the logic of giving it to people who actually need an incentive to book Qantas.

I am resigned to not getting them so am getting creative to get extra SCs. I booked my half-yearly holiday to South Africa at the 12 days of Christmas sale. Got a return J ticket for $4.5k - reasonable; will probably be my last 747 flight am going upper deck way over and 1A on the way back. I get 320 SCs return but by including JNB-CPT Comair in the same itinerary I get an extra 60 SCs each way so end up with 440. Was able to include them seemingly at no extra charge.

I'd think so too. My anniversary is 31/12 and I did search vigorously in Oct-Nov and got 50% bonus SC after 2 weeks of searching :)
So it really might assume last minute - panic - status runs maybe?

Yea, I think so too .. the system might be smart enough to know that ;

1. It's near-end of the anniversary year
2. How far is the customer away from the next tier or retain the current tier. In my case, I retained gold mid-year and it took me another 5 months to rise to Platinum. I was at 1200 SC when I did "intentional" searches after logging in to QF and the offer came in ...

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go and make some frantic, intentional searches on QF website 😂

With my IT background, I'm even considering writing a piece of code that will do the repetitive searches for me :p

For what it's worth, my partner's offer came in just 4 months into her membership year, and mine came in 6 months through mine. I wasn't able to draw a correlation between membership anniversary and targeted offer date.

Dropping @danmar 's post here to help build the data pool.

Got a 50% offer just over a week ago that was targeted for travel to Europe. Gave 1 week to make bookings and was valid for flights until mid-May. I had been searching Europe flights but unfortunately my upcoming trip is in June...
