IHG Rewards - Win Big

The IC resort stay came as a non-qualifying stay. It was fixed within ~2 hours of submitting the request.

I also complained about the 3 consecutive night stay hidden in the terms and conditions with the non-qualifying stay request. I will send another stand alone complaint.

Don't ya hate it when people don't bother to read the single paragraph that comprised the T&Cs and then mutter about them being buried.

Not really, the wording did say a stay, which by definition under their own rules is one night, no surprise resort stays are absent in big win 2. They tend to sail close to the wind on some promos, obviously their marketing people don't talk to legal or treasury often.

Well it was buried. And to be fair on everyone, all the other challenges had their requirements presented up front and center, easy to identify and read. The burying of the 3 night requirement in the T&C seems more like something to catch people out and prevent the big win from happening.

Sorry, but I'm with the others. I got mine OK, but only after good advice here on AFF. As markis10 says, the wording contradicts their own terminology and not only that, all the T&Cs were the same EXCEPT for that one. Hidden is probably too nice a word.........misleading is more accurate!

Why was the 3 night requirement buried in the terms and conditions? All they had to do was have 1 stay for 3 consecutive nights on the front page of the Win Big promotion.

I wonder if the same complaint about the "buried" 3 night requirement is making the rounds on FT or even IHG's blog?

(I didn't get caught - didn't even have time to try and get this part of the Big Win)

Given that MartinO pointed this out in this thread, and swanning_it even acted on it, I'm surprised so many people missed it - usually we catch on these kinds of peculiarities in threads like this. I'm not saying it wasn't 'unfair' on the part of IHG or what not, but it's not often you see this happen on forums like this.

I assume IHG are really going to pin it against the complainants by claiming they put all of the T&Cs on and participation in the promotion nominally constitutes an understanding and acceptance of these T&Cs.

The thing about this promotion that really annoy me is that you have to keep going back to the same launch page, go through the same login paces just to get to your "promotion dashboard". Same thing with the new Big Win. Then again, given IHG's IT, I'm not inclined to expect anything great except that it works.

The thing about "badges" I know is a fairly new social concept (sort of), but given that it really doesn't serve a practical purpose, I'm wondering why they bothered in the first place. If they attached points or other incentives by getting badges (as well as an inventory of badges), that might work much better.

I think I may have posted this before, but the "1/2 way there" badge amuses me no end (I'm easily amused). Half way to the Big Win via points, is by achieving ALL ones challenges which instantly achieves the Big Win, so half way there is effectively ALL the way there at the same time. If they mean half way to achieving half way :)confused:) then I'm well past that but have not as yet achieved the 1/2 way badge! :D

I picked up nearly 40,000 points for my CP CBR stay after the train crawl

I still have a Sept. 1 check-out not crediting - there's 6500 for 4 stays.

My IC night credited as a non-qualifying stay - PC were quick to fix the crediting, but the BigWin has ignored it.

That would be my third brand for 22K.

So my brands are showing 2/3 even though I have 3/3 and my stays are showing 2/4 even though I have 4 ... and I am down 28K on what I should have.

That's awful stuff! I feel fortunate that all mine posted!

I'm going to potentially struggle on the book 4 stays through our app challenge. The T & C's state it has to be booked through a web or mobile app, I'm wanting to know what they mean by web app and if I can get it to work with PP rates

Does anyone have a stay at a Holiday Inn Resort? I have had a paid 5 night stay and received a badge for the HIR brand but it has not shown up as one of my 4 brands in the count. The T's & C's are a little vague. Curious to know what anyone else's experience with this one is.

HI resort counts as a HI stay.

HI resort counts as a HI stay.
Thanks Markis. I thought that may be the case reading the T's & C's but curious why I get a 'Brand Badge' for HI resorts seperate to the one I have for HI and HIX. Might take this up with IHG.

I think is arguable, I note in the BW2014 they specifically mention HI resort stays count as a HI stay for brands, yet any company page showing the brands lists them differently unlike crowne Plaza and IC resorts.

Cant remember but reward nights count for this yes?

Stuck with 33k points and no stays planned so with a holiday inn not far away for 20k per night.
Last challenge is to stay on a Saturday night.

So technically a free hotel night plus 13k points if it counts.

Well, I finally got my "Halfway there" badge......at the same time as I got the "Big Win" badge

I did note though, all reference to the Big Win has been removed from my account in the "My Offer Status" section. For a while, only the link to the Big Win website was removed, now everything is gone. Lucky for the link here on AFF or I'd have no idea as to how to check the progress. The funny thing is, all my other attained challanges still show as 100% complete (except those still active) but the Big Win has done a Harold Holt on me!

Now I'm just waiting for final points to show.
