IHG Rewards - Win Big

Oh well, just 1/2 of two challanges left to do, which will both be achieved at IC SYD in the nights leading up to the FFerHSYD function :D in Dec. Hopefully not cutting it too fine.

My 'Book With Us" points finally arrived without telephone intervention from me, but considerably slower than the rest of the points associated with the same stays  but they're there.

Does anyone think there just might be something more to the badges? The "halfway there" badge makes me laugh. I'm more than halfway through my challange targets but because the full promo halfway mark is after all challanges are completed, which then means you've also completed everything, there's really no such thing as "halfway"!

My survey is stupid:

Asks me how many trips I have taken in the last 12 months, number of hospital night stays (!), and whether I have had outpatient surgery.
It does not matter what questions the survey asks as long as you get the 100 points. I am certainly not going to tell them the truth as it is none of their business....

My 'Eat it Up' offer now has 51/56! Does this mean I have only spent USD51 and need to spend another USD5?

By the way I did spend 1,800THB which by my calculations at the time (7 October) should have been between USD56-58. Have they excluded service charge from bill or used a later exchange rate?

You always seem to be credited for less "USD" than one would have expected.

Whether reduced by a "service" charge, VAT/GST component or a poor exchange rate, it happens.

I am guessing that the +++, as in the good old Asian compulsory service charge of 10%, is not taken into account.

That could do it and I am guessing with the 51/56 that all I need to do is spend another USD5 to complete the task. I am guessing the minibar does not count as dining.

FYI all, the iOS app update which was released yesterday now includes access to your 'Big Win' progress... Helpful!

Anybody know what happens in my current situation? Staying at a CP now, been here for a week and checking out in a week. So, one week before the promotion starts and one week after. Does my spend / nights count for the entire stay since I checked out after Sep 1, or just the spend after start of Sep?
(I think I recall that in previous Hilton promos I would get the credit for the entire stay. Not sure about IHC).

Several of you are asking questions about upcoming stays that overlap the start and end dates of the promotion. So long as your stay either starts OR ends during the promotional period, your stay will count towards the promotion. Both of the examples below will count.

Ex: Check-in August 29th & Check-out September 1st
Ex: Check-in December 30th & Check-out January 3rd

For the "Life in the City" offer, all stays have to take place in a unique city. If your particular offer requires 5 stays to fulfill the bonus points, then you must stay in 5 unique cities (the full list can be found on the website).

Thanks!

Carolyn

After a recent Sydney IC stay ...

Am email comes in ( embedded in the 'thank you for staying ...' message );

Says: " You won the Big Win ..."

" Now it's time to reward yourself with Reward Nights ... ".

( I know I haven't actually completed my package ), so I will be very upset at the 'misleading' message of congratulations I received.

Maybe, I might need to seek professional counselling, to console the distressed feelings I will most likely develop, given the callous disregard for my psychological well-being ?? ( at FALSELY being advised I had "won the Big Win" ) ...

Rick93,

You can forward your email to me if you like.

With my stay at Sanctuary Cove last night I 'believe' I have won. :D

Last night was the seventh night I needed and also the resort stay I needed.

Let's give them a couple of days and see how it all pans out.

I have just flicked a note off to IHG to claim my above mentioned stay as a 'Resort Stay'

From the site I have completed all that I need to do for 'The Big Win' except my Resort stay. My stay at Sanctuary Cove registered in the promo as my last needed (7th) night and I got 7,000 points but it did not come up as a 'Resort Stay'.

Something for people to watch.

I'll let you know when I get a response.

Bear in mind straitman, that the same thing happened to me with the "book on line" challenge.......which did eventually appear correctly
without intervention by me. It seems this scenario does indeed happen and will hopefully self correct. (but I agree with manually claiming the stay just in case).

My resort stay T&C's has the following rule:

Number of bonus points or miles listed above will be rewarded after stays at required number of distinct IHG resort properties (3 night minimum stay) at all participating IHG resorts

I saw that after booking a single night non refundable for this Saturday. Now I don't remember it being like that initially as I had believed a single night would suffice, but I can't be certain - and I did not get a screen print.

It means I will not Win Big, but at least get 22,000 bonus for on of three brands.

FWIW, on 28th September I put a claim in for a Stay completed on 1st September - reply was I needed to wait 4-6 weeks after the posting (which was 7th September.) It's now 12 weeks since and I am my third set of correspondence over this.

serfty,

I do not recall seeing that 3 night part previously either. (That's 41,000 points I will miss.)

I wonder if anyone has kept an original copy of the T&C.

Thanks MartinO.

Looks like I miss out as I missed that requirement.
Hmmm. Not happy.

I just booked 2 nights at Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn and will not get the Win Big either. That means I miss out on 45,000 points + 6,000 points for the resort stay.

I would not have spent close to $500 if I have known it was 3 nights at a resort.

Thanks Bill, but I have a 'bad habit' of deleting excess emails.

It was a bit 'tongue-in-cheek' ... my previous exclamation ( about seeking counselling, due to being upset at their email ).

I also ( nearly ) got caught with the 'three night' stays at the two resorts ...
