If there was a proper coffee machine there was no one manning it, when i asked about barista coffee i was told best bet was across the road.

Reception really cramped with staff mostly hidden behind pot plants next to lifts. No separate bar staff and no where to sit inside except 1 lounge chair looking at the white wall /box hiding what i imagine was originally reception . I suppose you could sit in the breakfast area but no tv that i saw.

I have been sent a survey, will be highlighting the artic temperature and lack of cutlery.

There isnt much choice in Maroochydore hotelwise. Luckily unlikely to need to visit again anytime soon.

Oh this sounds like they have completely dismantled and rebuilt the entire ground floor....how odd. It was still new and entirely functional (from the perspective of a paying guest).

How is it that a new built HIX&S branded property becomes a HI branded property and go through such a significant decline in amenity? Weird decisions being made here.

Have they removed the large table and high chairs as well as the smaller tables and chairs from the reception area where you could sit, enjoy a drink and watch the TV if you wanted to?

What used to be the reception area is blocked off as they rebuild the reception area, that’s where the coffee machine/bar was.
The seats near the lifts where the tv is has become the temp reception area.

Four years old for any hotel property is still pretty new by most measures.

Agree, at the end of the day its reception area is getting a rebuild, not the whole ground floor. I will be interested to see the changes , no doubt driven by the new management company taking over from proinvest.

How do you manage to get 8% cashback as an elite? I thought the higher rates were only for non members - or do you book as a non member and add it after?

I booked during their Destination Deals sale, which featured Melbourne hotels at 30% off . This was about a week and a half before I was due to stay. My original rate was about $235 via a corporate code with no cashback, so it was a no-brainer to cancel, rebook and get cashback

I don't think TCB has ever said IHG status members get lower cashback?
TCB increases the IHG cashback rate to 8% and sometimes 10% for a few days every few weeks.
You can also use US TCB which is currently 10% or UK TCB if the rate is better
