IHG Hotels that recognise status

Hotel: Crowne Plaza Canberra
When: July 26-27
Status: Diamond Ambassador
Rate: Preferred Partner Rate 20% off at $236/night
Booked: 2 Double Bed Standard City View
Received: 2 Double Bed Standard Park View 2 Double Bed Premium Glebe Park View Presidential Suite
Amenity Offered: Breakfast, drink or 600 points. Took the breakfast, but also got 600 points overnight.

Definitely the biggest hotel room I've stayed in to date (two floors ma!) and first one with a bidet and a spa! (I didn't use either one.) Each floor's balcony also had a table and chairs to enjoy the Glebe Park views.

Yeah it's outdated, but they have Chromecast at least (unlike voco Gold Coast), and location is excellent. Reception called up the day before to ask if I was happy to upgrade to the Presidential Suite if they added a rollaway bed to the bottom floor. They upgraded the room really early too (the first upgrade), unlike other hotels.
I always seem to be in a rush to enjoy the place. last time upgraded to a suite with all amenities, including a kitchen, but on a low floor. Trees obscured the view into the park. I only get the drink and bar snack or points. Choose drink and bar snack but still got the points.

Enjoy it while the place lasts!

Was the hotel fully occupied? I've had presidential suites a few times but only because every other room was full and I had the highest status including some internal metric out of everyone staying that night.

No idea, but breakfast was very busy; we arrived shortly after eight and was seated in the bar area instead of the main restaurant area

Hotel: Holiday Inn Singapore Little India
When: August 6-9
Status: Platinum
Rate: Visa Preferred Partner Rate 20% off (SGD670 for 3 nights)
Booked: 1 Queen Standard City View
Received: 1 King* High Floor City View
Amenity Offered: Two welcome drinks or 600 points.

This was my second stay at this hotel, previous stay was April 2022 just as international travel was opening up again. I chose this again because it's relatively inexpensive, close proximity to MRT, and the pool is long enough for doing laps (around 25m). Rooms are on the small side, but the bathroom was in good condition, and *I think they put two double beds together into what I'd call a Super King - was much wider than any KS bed I'd slept in anyway, and was super comfortable!

On the bonus front, the stay triggered both the Earn 2,000 points every 2 nights promo, and my 4yr anniversary 1k bonus pts per night promotions. Also, not only had I managed to lock in the Visa rate with first night charges off the pre-registered Visa, but at check-in I used the Qantas Ultimate Amex for the other two nights and incidentals - earning extra QFF on the Foreign Spend bonus points promo, and a $70 IHG cashback.

The on-site restaurant "Gully" has a wide range of Indian food, if that's your thing, with a focus on more street style dishes. On my second night I stayed in and enjoyed every bite of the 4 dishes I ordered (will edit and drop the menus/photos). Breakfast was SGD30 which I only had once: plenty of options including western, indian and chinese options.

Overall a great experience and would do it again!

Crown Plaza Perth, upgrade to high floor river view and chocolate truffles in room. Downside was a-la-carte breakfast or continental buffet. Ordered and almost walked out as it took too long. Drink vouchers or points. Took points as arrived after bar closed.

Holiday Inn Express Little Collins. upgrade to high floor, i.e top floor 31. Drinks voucher accepted. Good bar across the road for dinner or The Mitre bar along the road . Basic breakfast.

Crowne Plaza Surfers, upgrade to high floor, with view down the beach. Watched barge spraying sand onto beach. Took drinks voucher and two bottles of water in the room. Hotel dinner OK but breakfast good.

Holiday Inn Potts Point, upgrade to harbour view room. (best overall view of CBD, bridge and Opera House) Took drinks voucher and small jar of mints in room. Good breakfast. Secret stash of Nutella by pancake machine you may never know is there.
