IHG Hotels that recognise status

HI on Flinders - Entertainment Card rate of $238, upgraded room to Suite (713) and James (Concierge) delivered a bottle of red. Nice note from Jason Burnett (GM).

Finally, an outcome in my HI City Centre (Perth) issue - see page 9, posts 84 and 90...

I rang the Front Office Manager on Thursday to find out why I hadn't received a phone call (as promised) by the GM. Yesterday afternoon, I had a 45 min phone call from the GM where we explored the issues and outcomes. I also pointed him to AFF (and in particular, this Forum and topic) advising that a lot of our members do stay in IHG hotels, are PC members and do look to see which properties meet the stated benefits.

He followed up with an email and accompanying letter. Whilst I won't advise what's in the letter, here is an excerpt from his covering email:

It was a pleasure to talk to you today and I thank you for your valuable time. As discussed, please find attached the letter which I apologise for delay in sending through to you. You will receive the 10,000 points as outlined in the letter in due course.

I am also appreciative of the time you have taken to take me through the frequent flyer website. This is certainly very useful to us and I will be sharing this information with my colleagues.

Again, thank you for your understanding and when you’re next coming to Perth, please contact me directly to arrange your accommodation and hopefully catch up for a drink.

A very acceptable outcome and I'm glad to see that the issues were addressed - hopefully on my return to the hotel later this year or early in 2008, it may be a different hotel that awaits.

CP Hunter Valley.

Booked best available rate and upgraded to King Spa Suite as PC Plat.
Received a fruit platter and hand written welcome note.
Very attentive service and the property is quite new. Will definitely come back.

HI Sydney Airport

Got upgraded to a King Room, top floor, no other special treatment.

CP Melbourne

No upgrade (full), excutive floor has voucher as part of their key holder, received a bottle of wine and note from GM. This property is getting tired, and the 20 min wait for a car is a bugbear, quicker to self park and walk from nearby parking station.

Agreed Re: parking, 15 min or so wait on car retrieval @ HI Syd Airport, no special treatment at all being PCGold.

A few more stays:

HI Burswood
Booked reward room, then cancelled booking and made it a paid stay, hotel treated it as a reward stay despite me geting points back - weird. Not upgraded and no special treatment!

HI Darwin Esplanade
Booked a loft and got it, no upgrade. No recognition of status. Only got points for half of bill, RECOMMEND ALL CLUB MEMBERS CHECK ONLINE TO SEE IF BILL IS POSTED CORRECTLY FOR POINTS! Paid Fully flexible rate.

HI Cairns
Upgrade to Ocean (Mud Flat) View, very good service from front desk manager attending a request for another room for us without notice, booked fully flexible.

HI Townsville
Upgraded to King Suite (nice but tired). Hotel merged two consecutive bookings into one but applied the higher rate to both nights, also tried to charge $7 for a Mini Bar Crown Lager when the hotel has had a promo saying $5 in the room all year, this is the second time this has happened!

CP Canberra.

Booked 3 rooms on 14 day advance purchase rate. No recognition or upgrade as PC Plat (was told the hotel is fully booked).
When trying to enter one of the rooms, someone else had already occupied the room. How embarrassing!
They reluctantly upgrade 1 room to corner suite, no apologies given. They seemed confused themselves.

HI Darling Harbour

Booked a standard room on 5,000 Points Break reward and got upgraded to a one bedroom queen suite (on the corner).

Included fruit (2 x apples), bottled water x 2 and upgraded bathroom amenities.

I am PC Platinum thanks to these boards!:D

HI On Flinders as a PC Gold, no recognition of that and I had to request the late checkout, it wasn't offered to me in due course... they did however get my room ready and allow me to checkin at 9am, which was nice after an OMG'O'Clock PER-MEL flight so allowed SWMBO to have a nap and recharge the batteries.

My last two stays at HI on Flinders have also been as Lindsay states. Each time upgraded to Suite (713 & 513). James is very helpful and also got a note from GM. My rate was a little cheaper so didn't really mind when I only got the wine on one of the visits.

Ditto for me with number three coming up next week, fingers crossed the hotel continues to be one of the better performers in Oz, they get my business when not booked out!

As far as I'm concerned, giving me my room at 9am when checkin is normally 2pm is great service in my books!

Hmm, I have never got a bottle of wine on any visit to any CP or HI anywhere....Such is life I guess...

Well, I have a raft of PC visits in the next 2 weeks (including my favourite HI on Flinders - which is also IainF's as well):

22 Nov - HI on Flinders
26 Nov - CP Darling Harbour (my second favourite - batting 85% on upgrades)
27 Nov - HI Darling Harbour
28 Nov to 1 Dec - CP Darling Harbour
