Anyone a member that can tell me how to speed up the process of getting points credited?

We have a stay booked for Perth in May and the way things are going I don't think we'll have enough points credited (though plenty EARNED) for my requested upgrade. As its a family jaunt, with the baby in tow, I'll be drowning myself in the Swan River if we don't get our suite.

Any tips??

How long are these things taking to be posted? You could try giving them a call and see if they can help you out. Not ever having tried this, I don't know how successful you will be.

Karen, don't know how you went (hopefully you got them all credited); but if in the future you have troubles, then click on this link, sign in and then click on the "Past Stay Credit Request" line. This will take you into the form used to ask for crediting.

Some Hyatts are worse than others in processing points. However, if you fax through a copy of your last account(s) to the GP processign centre in the US, then they can usually expedite things.

The only other suggestion I have for you is that when booking a stay in future, take the hyatt booking reference and enter it in the bookings section on the GP web site - this often speeds up the process after the stay.

Thought I would drop a word of warning for those staying at the Hyatt Coolum. My wife and I went away for a couple of days R&R and thought we'd go to the Hyatt Coolum. As it has been a pretty busy year we thought we'd splurge and book a villa there.

One week later when the points credited only the points for the incidentals posted. When querying the Hyatt on this they advised that points are not credited for Villa stays (and yes it is in their T&C's). In hindsight I should have checked the T&C's (who would though if booking on the Hyatt website) but I found it rediculous that those who choose to spend half the price on a standard room get points.

The two choices on choosing where to stay were a house on Sunshine Beach or the Hyatt and we chose the Hyatt for the FFN and points (should have received an extra 3000 points). Next time we won't get caught. Rant over.

I received my diamond credentials to Hyatt Gold Passport in today's mail and I'm perplexed by one of the benefits - access to the Club Lounge.

The Hyatt website reads:
Receive exclusive access to the Regency Club™ or Grand Club™ lounge featuring complimentary continental breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres. Enjoy daily complimentary full breakfast in hotels without a club lounge2
Where (2) is:
During periods of high demand access to the Regency Club or Grand Club lounge may not be available; therefore, complimentary full breakfast for each registered guest and 2,500 bonus points will be given. Not available at Hyatt Place™, Hyatt Summerfield Suites™, or Hyatt Vacation Club Resorts
The program T&Cs reads:
4. Diamond members will receive access to the Regency Club or Grand Club lounge in hotels that have the lounge. During periods of high demand, access to the Regency Club or Grand Club lounge may not be available; therefore Diamond members will receive 2500 bonus points plus daily complimentary full breakfast for each registered guest in the room, maximum four (4) people. Bonus points will not be given at the Grand Hyatt New York.
So my reading is, provided the hotel isn't bursting at the seams, a diamond member booked in even the cheapest, most basic room will get Club access.

However, the paraphrenalia that came in the mail has me worried:
An upgrade to a Regency/Grand Club™ room, based on availability with entry to a private lounge . . . *t
The footnotes read:
Upgrade excludes suites. Lounge access is not available at Hyatt Resorts Worldwide and Hyatt hotels outside the US and Canada [emphasis added].

Not available at Hyatt Place and Hyatt Summerfield Suites.
My reading of this is, outside the US and Canada - including Australia - no Club access which is contrary to the website and the T&Cs.

Have I missed something? What is people's experience outside the US and Canada with lounge access, particularly in Australia?

Danger,

As a fellow Diamond GPP member, you will have no problem accessing Club lounges in Australia, or o/s for that matter. Just make sure you remind them when you check in!
And yes even on the most basic room, even special offer rooms or free night award rooms - you get club lounge access! One of the best hotel member deals going around!:D

Ignore the paper certificate - this appears to be on the old conditions (US/Canada only) before they changed them all last year to include world-wide access

Many thanks, esquire. Very relieved to hear all that.

I checked (a friend) into the Hyatt Regency Perth yesterday and was upgraded to a Club room after booking the cheapest available rate. There was a bottle of red wine and a small basket of fruit waiting in the room.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I don't think there are many AFF members who are also Hyatt Gold Passport members but for those who are, has anyone noticed a subtle change in the T&Cs recently? I'm sure that when I signed up earlier this year Diamond members staying at properties outside the US & Canada received a welcome amenity of a food and beverage amenity. So far, for all my stays this year, that's exactly what I've received.

However, I'm at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne tonight and I only got a bottle of wine - no food. I was going to politely make mention of it on the guest comment card but wanted to check the HGP T&Cs first. I was shocked to read, for Diamond members:
7. . . . at Hyatt properties outside of North America and Park Hyatt hotels worldwide, a Food or Beverage amenity will be provided . . . [emphasis added]
Is it now one or the other?

Yes it does appear there are only a few of us Hyatt Diamonds around AFF!

Having stayed in all the Hyatts in Australia as a diamond I can say it is one or the other, however I am in the Hyatt Perth tonight (in the newly refurbished Club Rooms - which are very nice!) and I have a bottle of wine and some fruit. However, Park Hyatt Melbourne, Grand Hyatt Melbourne have always been wine and Park Hyatt Canberra, usually fruit, but if you stay a few nights a bottle of (good) wine may appear also!

Personally I prefer the wine as you can take it home - you can get food in the lounge!

Cheers

Yeah I find it varies by property. Park Hyatt Dubai for example, always just get a bottle of wine waiting in the room.

What annoys me about Hyatt's GP programme is that there is so much variability and so many subtle terms and conditions. I used to find the same thing with SPG when I was gold and entitled to room upgrades, it would hardly ever be honoured. Generally I find that the cheaper properties are better at giving you your perks and the expensive properties pretty much ignore your status...

Cheers,

JOBU

Hyatt Gold Passport has announced some changes to the program. From my perspective, they're positive.

From the email, changes to Diamond benefits are as follows:

HGP Diamond.jpg

Interestingly, the 4pm late check-out request is listed as being "subject to availability" only at Hyatt resorts and casinos, the inference being that although it's still a "request", it should be provided without issue at all other Hyatts. Time will tell, but I sincerely doubt it.

There have also been some changes to the Platinum benefits.

Additionally, 25 properties have moved up in the award chart (ie. require more points to redeem a free night) and 18 have moved down.

SPG have something similar for late check out. It's supposed to be guaranteed at non conference/resort hotels but many still try to wiggle out.

I suspect there'll be more than the odd Hyatt property that will try to do the same, despite what appears to be no room for movement on their part. A 4pm check-out is certainly very generous. In my case, probably more often that not, I'd simply be happy with an acknowledgement at check-in that I'm entitled to it as I wouldn't need to use it very often. It's when I have to fight for a stated benefit that really irks me.
