I received my diamond credentials to Hyatt Gold Passport in today's mail and I'm perplexed by one of the benefits - access to the Club Lounge.
The Hyatt website reads:
Receive exclusive access to the Regency Club™ or Grand Club™ lounge featuring complimentary continental breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres. Enjoy daily complimentary full breakfast in hotels without a club lounge2
Where (2) is:
During periods of high demand access to the Regency Club or Grand Club lounge may not be available; therefore, complimentary full breakfast for each registered guest and 2,500 bonus points will be given. Not available at Hyatt Place™, Hyatt Summerfield Suites™, or Hyatt Vacation Club Resorts
The program T&Cs reads:
4. Diamond members will receive access to the Regency Club or Grand Club lounge in hotels that have the lounge. During periods of high demand, access to the Regency Club or Grand Club lounge may not be available; therefore Diamond members will receive 2500 bonus points plus daily complimentary full breakfast for each registered guest in the room, maximum four (4) people. Bonus points will not be given at the Grand Hyatt New York.
So my reading is, provided the hotel isn't bursting at the seams, a diamond member booked in even the cheapest, most basic room will get Club access.
However, the paraphrenalia that came in the mail has me worried:
An upgrade to a Regency/Grand Club™ room, based on availability with entry to a private lounge . . . *t
The footnotes read:
Upgrade excludes suites. Lounge access is not available at Hyatt Resorts Worldwide and Hyatt hotels outside the US and Canada [emphasis added].
Not available at Hyatt Place and Hyatt Summerfield Suites.
My reading of this is, outside the US and Canada - including Australia - no Club access which is contrary to the website and the T&Cs.
Have I missed something? What is people's experience outside the US and Canada with lounge access, particularly in Australia?
