I saw there was some chatter about Hyde Perth, I stayed there a few weeks ago but never got round to posting the review, so here it is.
I'm a fairly regular visitor to Perth (3-4 time a year) and I usually alternate between the Adnate and the Novotel Murray St, depending on which is cheaper. But Hyde had an opening offer, so I paid a bit extra to give it a try. The hotel was previously the All Seasons but its been completely gutted and rebuilt, you'd never tell what it used to be. The location is on the other side of the malls from the Adnate and Novotel Murray. It's a bit closer to the mall than either of them though. It's quite well located for transport options.
Checked in around 5pm and reception immediately acknowledged my status. She ran through the facilities of the hotel and noted that I'd been upgraded to a suite. Heading up to the room, the suite has a separate bedroom and living room, both spacious and a large bathroom with twin sinks and a large walk in shower as well. This room overlooks the pool in the centre of the hotel, though the weather was a bit cold to go for a swim. The pool is a decent size, but too small for doing laps. Welcome gift in the room is a bottle of wine, two bottles of water and a jar of mixed nuts, plus the handwritten note welcoming me to the hotel. The only criticism of the room I'd have is that it doesn't have a proper desk, but does have a decent size table with two chairs.
Breakfast is served in the cafe/bar next to the lobby. There isn't a buffet and the choices are a bit limited. You get a coffee/tea/juice and a fruit platter with croissant, plus your choice from the menu. There's only three options on the menu (I forgot to take a pic of it) and they're eggs Benedict, eggs your way with toast and a vegan option that I forget, if you don't want eggs. The breakfast is all very nicely presented and a decent serving. I'm not sure if this is the way they're going to do breakfast ongoing or just what they're doing for now as they've only just opened.
The evening before I leave I ask for late check out to 2pm and it's no problem. Overall a very pleasant stay. The hotel rooms and service is definitely a notch above both Adnate and Novotel Murray. So, the key question, would I stay again? Yes, definitely,
but, both for this stay and my next stay the price was decently more than the other two good Accor options. For my next stay the base room is $348 per night compared to Adnate at $239 or Novotel Murray at $268. The Hyde is definitely a nicer, more upscale hotel and worth a bit more, but not that much more when the other two are both pleasant, solid options as well. So for my next stay I've booked the Adnate using points.
