For upmarket I would include Raffles, Sofitel, SO/, Pullman, Banyan Tree, Fairmont, Swisshotel, maybe Mondrian.

Given I spend as much time as possible in Europe in general and France in particular, I can hardly claim to be one of Perth's biggest fans.
However it does have some of the best beaches in Australia, if not the world.
They make the Gold Coast look filthy and Sydney beaches look like overcrowded drowning traps for unwary swimmers.
The river is beautiful, a backdrop second only to Sydney Harbour.
The weather is great and it is close to the south west with forests, wineries, caves and more beaches!
So yes it lacks history, culture, style and sophistication but it's more than a dusty goldfish bowl.
Though I find the pizzas in DOM J insufficiently appetising to make it worth eating the carbs.
