Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

I'm a Gold member.

Some more updates for gold status privileges:

Hilton Beijing: upgraded to exec wing with exec lounge access. Recommend this hotel (Jan '10)
Hilton Suites Chicago: no exec floor in property. Given corner suite and free continental breakfast basic suites property, I prefer proper hotel.(Feb '10)
Palmer House Hilton Chicago: upgraded to exec floor - which has basic offering basic food, alcohol at bar prices (I'm getting way to spoilt in Asian properties) Did like the hotel though, especially the historic lobby (Feb 10)
Hilton NYC: free breakfast (toast/cereal only - no fruit, yoghurt or hot stuff), no upgrade. Room nice enough, but wouldn't stay here again, too much attitude, (OK it is NYC, but never got this attitude anywhere else), poor gold benefits and petty things like charging for bag storage. (Feb 10).

If I my travel was focussed on US I wonder if I'd bother with Hiltons (exec floors - bit like airline lounges in the US - hardly see the point of them), but for my stays in Asia, Australia and the small number of European Hiltons I've stayed in its still worth it.

Friday 12th March 2010.

Hilton South Wharf Melbourne.

Booked Executive room with HPC discount ($A188)

Upgraded to King Suite (1901) with lounge access. - Top floor.

This room is defined as an apartment and lounge access needs to be programmed into the keys separately which they forgot to do initially.

As the hotel was full a late checkout was not available but we were allowed to stay on in the lounge for as long was we wished. Excellent treatment by the lounge manager 'Dolphin' and the hotel over all.

I've met Dolphin as well, all of the staff there came highly recommended from IainF (who should be back there this week).

I did stay at South Wharf last night, and the hotel was full. They "upgraded" me to a one bedroom apartment on the 19th floor, but I was disappointed as it is actually smaller than the standard room.
No big deal as I was only in the room to sleep, but as per usual the lounge access was provided.
Big thumbs up to Dolphin and Resh, the staff at the lounge.
I had left my sunglasses somewhere and Resh spent some time tracking them down and delivered them to me about an hour later... (I had left them in the cafe).

Michael Bourne is the manager here and he has kept the quality very high.

Cheers
IainF

Gee I really am looking forward to dropping to Gold in a few days-you fellows really do well.
had my last Hilton stay as diamond in January at MEL airport.ordinary room, booked through HPC and had to ask for the 20% off at checkout.
Am staying at Hilton KL in May.Booked rate in the january sale.checked my bookings recently and the hotel had cancelled it.took a week to be reinstated.
Sometmes I feel there is a reason to be paranoid.

I think Melbourne Airport Hilton has dropped the ball :!:

This year I have had the extremes from them. A lovely hand written note from the hotel manager to absolutely no recognition.

Previously I would always get a bottle of wine and a pleasant welcome note.

drron, you have a PM.

I have to agree about Melbourne AP Hilton - recently has not been too good - here's some recent Hilton stays:

April 22
Property: Hilton Melbourne AP
Room booked: Deluxe (Gov Rate)
Rate: $252
Received: Upgrade to Junior Suite on lowest floor overlooking roof and carpark. Would have rather had the deluxe. Rate included breakfast -not offered anything else. Not even a welcome message. Bed was not made as requested - ie top sheet - housekeeping came with the sheet and passed it to me and walked away :(

April 21
Property: Hilton on the Park Melbourne
Room booked: Standard (Gov Rate)
Rate: $205
Received: Upgrade to Executive Floor with Lounge Access. No water or message in room

April 8
Property: Hilton South Wharf Melbourne
Room booked: Standard (Gov Rate) -
Rate: $199 !
Received: Upgrade to Executive Floor with Lounge Access. Was a last minute booking but was warmly greeted:)

April 24 - tonight!
Property: Conrad Treasury Brisbane
Room booked: Standard (Deluxe) (Gov Rate) -
Rate: $250
Received: Upgrade to Junior Suite with full breakfast

HH GOLD
2nd March
Property: Bangkok Conrad
Room booked: Twin bed room
Rate: $190 AUD
Received: Upgraded to Exec level with lounge access + breakfast, free water, no letter, bowl of fruit.
Plus choice between spa treatment, limo ride to the airport in Merc SLK or a meal at one of the hotel restaurants.

I was travelling with a work buddy and thought about throwing him in a cab whilst I took the 2 seater but passed. I'll have 3 more stays there in the next month so we'll see if they are just as generous in April.
