Hi All,

Thought I'd start a new thread which throws up life's little questions when flying on our favourite Kangaroo, but which probably don't need threads of their own.

Who knows, maybe Red Roo can respond to some when s/he is bored with all the important ones out there??

So, I'll start this off ....

Why is that .... I can check-in on my mobile for an exit row seat, but can't use NextGen Check-in because - according to staff - I have to be "sighted"?

Regards,

BD

Why is it that……… My QFF card is sufficient as ID for NexGen check-in, but if on checking-in I have been put in an exit row seat (eg: on a QLink flight without advance seat selection) and have to walk just 20 meters over to a check-in counter it is no longer good enough and photo ID is demanded?

Doesn't always let you.... A couple of months ago Mr FM and I both had exit row seats. We checked in with mobiles mine worked his required him to see an agent to complete his check in. We've given exit row the flick - I am so tired of selecting one and then finding we've lost them due to equipment changes....It seems to happen a lot on the SYD-CBR run.

Let me assure you that Red Roo is never bored! ;)

I can personally assure you that all customer issues are important to Qantas, and feedback is never taken for granted. We appreciate that aspects of our products and services may be a matter of preference, and in some cases based on extensive personal travel experiences and ongoing passion and enthusiasm for our brand.

Our Customer Experience teams across the network will be particularly interested in this thread. While I may not have an answer to all your questions, I'll do my best to raise them with the right people and get back to you where possible.

I always do the puppydog eyes when I OLCI. I thought they could see me through the camera!

OK, my turn.

Red Roo....Why is it that the Ovo-Lacto vege meal in Y is still the same bland tasteless lentil pilaf that has been around for years? Also, why does dessert in an Ovo-Lacto vege meal equal a bowl of chopped fruit pieces when all other passengers get some sort of cake or something similar; what....vegetarians can't eat cake?!

Lacto-vegetarians don't eat eggs, and ovo-vegetarians don't eat dairy. Cakes are made with.. ?

My bad....it is Lacto-Ovo and not Ovo-Lacto. However that vegemeal option means you eat both, so hence my question still stands....

So you are the person who eats that stuff.

Because the designers of the system and screens are complete idiots.

On the other hand, you can get and check-in using NGCI and get a boarding pass issued through the kiosks. To do this if you have already selected your seat online, go through the check-in process and then press 'select or view seats', when displayed, this will then prompt the Exit Row questions. Then it will issue a BP.

Nope. I learnt that lesson a long time ago. It goes back to the trolley at the end of service undisturbed. I just usually make sure that I get my fill in the lounge before the flight.

Why is it that..... I book a flight ADL - NTL on the Q website, get to MEL and have to collect my bags & check in again with J* but I can connect with CX and not see my bags again until I arrive in HKG as Qantas can "look after" my checked in luggage all the way

Provides an incentive to connect to the QF owned airline vs the OW one doesn't it? NOT
Why would you fly Jetstar vs CX btw?

I don't fly Jetstar via CX. Maybe I didn't word my post correctly but I was giving 2 examples. One is where I fly ADL to Newcastle with "Qantas" where you change to a Jetstar flight in Melbourne and the other is a codeshare flight Adelaide to HKG via SYD or MEL where you change to a Cathay flight. Surely if Q can give your baggage to Cathay they can give it to Jetstar???

why is it that my flights are never 'eligible for mobile check-in' on my Windows 8 Phone app?

You have to show your CC within 2 days of booking your ticket in BKK (and many other cities), but for almost every other airline (that requires a CC to be sighted), you can do so at check-in???
