Fly Buys - Keep Receipt

Julie, considering that you have got awards to the value of over $6000 you must have earned over 700,000 flybuys points.
That's amazing considering you get only 2 points for $5 (except for bonus points).
What is your secret?

I like most people in this forum find flybuys to be extremely inferior to credit card programs linking to airline programs.

However, as was mentioned, this program is free, as compared with many credit card programs.

I find that it is almost pointless trying to accumulate an award just from everyday shopping at FB outlets. You would have to spend a fortune!!
I am now close to my first reward (just under 13,000 points) and the only way I have managed to accumulate such points is through the Bonus offers that come out regularly.
eg received 4,000 FB points from Myer for buying a particular suit from work (was extremely lucky cause I was unaware of the offer!!)
received 3,000 FB from Myer for spending over $100 on male cologne in 1 purchase.

If I didn't make these 2 purchases, I would be 7,000 FB less, ie 5,700 points. In terms of a flight reward, I would be lucky to make from one side of the runway to the other!!

Regards,

The people who seem to get the most FB points are those who live geographically close to Coles Supermarkets and shop there.

It's merely a matter of convenience.

Serfty, I still think that even loyal Coles buyers need to utilise some bonus offers to have a hope of gaining a reward.

However I totally agree with you regarding the location of the Coles store. No number of bonus offers would get people shopping at a Coles if it is 20km or so away and they have a Woolies next door!

I have had several rewars out of this scheme (including mystery flights which alas, one can't even get for money these days), but I very much doubt that I would have even had one reward had it not been for the bonus points on offer. They do make a substantial difference, but they are only any good if they are on thngs you would normally buy.

(How many leather sofa's can one really buy :)

Just to give some idea of how bonus points help the balance, since FlyBuys began I have colleced about 170,000 points. This was made up of
50,000 standard points, 117,000 bouns points and 3,000 VIP points (never really worked out what these were about, or how they were issued)
