On please let it be me, I spent so much time on BNE-SYD-MEL runs on 738's.

I just hope I haven't used all my luck getting the DJ BSI 738. :/

Is there a prize for the first person to fly on it?

Looks like you got beaten to the post to fly on the new QF 73H :)
Looks pretty great and has DJ's beat (well until DJ release their final final version at least)

Well I hope QF have more luck with VZL in service than they did on delivery :) ,I'm told it was on it's delivery flight from Boeing field but had to turn back about 3 hours into the flight because the aircraft had tech problems,it returned to Boeing field where it was repaired and it departed again about 24 hours later.
Cheers

BTW Here's an outside pic.

Just like VUZ having fumes in the coughpit within the first week of operation?

Singapore had an A330 engine shutdown that had been flying for less than a month;)

Have to be pretty unlucky to have problems on a delivery flight though. (Although I guess if you are going to have problems the best time to have them is on delivery,a bit like buying a new car and have it stall as you drive it out of the dealership:!:)

Qantas today took delivery of their 10th Airbus A380 when VH-OQJ Bert Hinkler arrived as QF6024.

When are they going to start taking delivery of no F A380's? very interested to see the routes they are used on...

It's my understanding that the A380's without F will be the last 8 of the 20 ordered, they currently have 10 and I understand that 11 and 12 will be delivered in 2011 with 11 being VH-OQK in Q3 and 12 being VH-OQL in Q3,the remaining 8 will be delivered from 2012.
I have no knowledge about routes that the aircraft without F would be deployed on,other members here may have a better idea.

Edited to add: This paragraph from a FlightGlobal article may go someway to answer your question-
First class seats will remain on main routes such as those from Sydney and Melbourne to Los Angeles and London, it adds. The increased seat density on the aircraft will help increase revenues, says the carrier.
The upgrade and reconfiguration programme will begin at the end of 2011 and will be completed by the end of 2013, says Qantas.

Quite a few fleet changes have surfaced in the last few days:

VZO arrived in Melbourne today - new 738
VZP rolled of the line at Renton - new 738
OGB left the country last week after 24 years of service

And the following 744s are for sale by Allco:
VH-OJG is available from September 2012.
VH-OJH is available from October 2012.
VH-OJJ is available from April 2013.

Additionally Boeing 767-338ER VH-OGF is listed for sale and is available from September 2011.

All information from Qantas Source!

oooo does anyone have some pics or a link to pics of the new cabin interior for the 737BSI you guys are getting me excited :D

good news about the new 738's.

Only if they could get rid of the 738's with the dodgy bear straps...

VZP should be in Melbourne tonight or tomorrow at the latest on delivery from Boeing.

I noticed to gold A330's at BNE in the QF maintenance area opposite the DOM terminal on saturday. Anyone know which birds they are?

Gold A330s? If it's the MRRTs then they're very much grey. Unless you were getting some funny light to make them look gold? Only airline with gold A330s I can think of is Gulf Air, and they don't fly to SYD anymore so sending them to SYD for MX seems a bit odd, but stranger things have happened.

The Gold Birds are the MRTTs in their underwear, they go grey when they are ready for delivery.

A little off-topic perhaps, bit that photo shows that if they could get the APU to operate an "after-burner" then we may well have the replacement aircraft for the F111 dump and burn party trick

Well it's very easy to see the modifications in that photo, but from the distance of the terminal I've never noticed the modifications. Maybe my eyes are going.

They do the mods in Brisbane, from memory only one of the two has a boom at present! There was an article on the NT news this morning with a picture of a KC135 refuelling a Tindal based F18, it mentioned that we dont have any refuellers at present but soon there will be an evaluation at RAAF Brisbane, epic fail on a number of points not including the fact two have been delivered complete to AMB!

Gold? Sorry but if I was given a new $2 coin and it looked like that I would be a bit worried,
I'd call it a dirty brown,a bit like that horrible livery that Southwest used to have,in fact the
Southwest one was probably more gold than this.
