Firstly just on a side note $1,889,493 was raised for UNICEF last year through the change for good program.

From mid 2012 the first reconfigured 4 class A380 will enter service with a reduction in business and an increase in economy. The first 3 class A380 is due towards the end of 2012

From September this year the first reconfigured 747 will enter service

28 aircraft are due for delivery this year
6 x A320
5 x A380
3 x A330-200
14 x 737-800

The first 737-800 due this month (so should have already arrived) includes the new Recaro Domestic Business seat and later in the year the 'Boeing Sky interior' will be introduced.

Reg Ansett was being towed past the J lounge in SYD yesterday around 1PM :D

Are they not expecting some Q400's for Qantaslink as well?
Cheers

Good thread, I've been thinking about the fleet replacement. Is there any ideas on how many 747's will be retired and when plus does anyone know which other routes qantas plan to fly the 380?

Does that mean the ageing 737-400s are at to be retired at last????? I've gone with DJ lately expressly because of that issue.

At last? Some of the 737-400's are only 14 yrs old, yet some of the 767-300's are into their 20s now.

I thought the -300's were already gone. But I may be wrong (im told I am quite regularly).

My understanding is (going off qflyer & having flown TT a bit recently) is the 733's are gone replaced by the first new lot of 73H's, this next lot of 73H's replace the JC 734's. Read somewhere those 734's will return QF mainline though I don't understand the point if they have so many new 737's coming anyway. Returned doesn't mean to be used I guess. Will be another big change really, with the IFE etc. as so many DOM flights utilise these AC. 767's live yet another day. :)

AFAIK the NG 737's are headed to Jetconnect to replace the 737-300's first.

I too thought all the 737-300's had been moved on. I am sure of it as there was an AFF'er who did a report on it on here some time last year.

Its the 734s that are being replaced, from Qantas Source.:

The next three JetConnect Boeing 737-800s, ZK-ZQD, ZK-ZQE and ZK- ZQF are all scheduled for delivery in February. Boeing 737-400 ZK-JTS will leave the fleet in late January and return to QANTAS mainline service as VH-TJZ after maintenance and configuration change. There is no word on the Business Class seating for the new 737-800s which could feature the same seats as the existing JetConnect 737-800s or the seating found on mainline A330-300s VH-EBO and VH-EBP.

QF needs the 734s to support mining contracts and WA expansion. Note the 738s for domestic are not scheduled to arrive into fleet until 2012, however that may be bought forward although it would require Boeings assistance re production slots.

Does anyone know when the A380 will grace the tarmac at BNE ?

When Sydney next experiences weather conditions causing diversions.

I very much doubt we will see QF A380 in BNE for a while. The most likely regular A380 ops will be from EK.

back to an earlier question, does anyone know which route will ultimately be A380 or is that something to be decided?

It has been there once already (an EK divert from SYD).

+1 more likely to seek EK as first scheduled, QF only on divert.
