Re: Qantas unveils new look for domestic next gen 737's

I know as much as anybody since I dont work for DJ, but I suspect we will see a lot more of the new DJ at the Avalon airshow where most of the relaunch is probably going to be revealed, thats my guess!

I know there is a rumour going round that you work for them / favour them heavily but I didn't mean to imply that I believed it - was just asking a question, sorry.....

Thanks for the information anyway!

edit: It's interesting that everyone is talking about J, but most companies obviously fly their staff Y. Wonder how DJ are going to enhance their Y offer to beat the QF next gen?

I would be pretty surprised to see a DJ staffer make SG let alone be either SG or WP for the past 14 years like I have , over that time I have seen the benefits of flying QF erode significantly so I am glad to see some competition step up to the plate, especially competition that participates actively on AFF and listens to our feedback and responds as required.

Coincidentally QF took delivery of the next of the Jetconnect 738's ZK-ZQD on Thursday with another two due before the end of the month.
Cheers

Good news for those regulars on TT. Trying to fit portable DVD player + food on the J table is almost impossible!

Looking forward to seeing these flying domestically!

Qantas domestic Boeing 737s to get futuristic 'Sky Interior', individual video screens

Qantas appears set to unveil a radical new-look cabin for its domestic fleet aircraft later this year when the airline takes delivery of its first Boeing 737NG (or 'Next Generation') fitted with Boeing's slick Sky Interior and video screens for every economy seat.

Yep, me too. Can't wait to see it in person!

Does that mean that QF are now repainting and re-doing the interior?

Totally agree. Get the kangaroo on the tail!

I also think that the font that QF used for the word 'freight' is dull and boring.

Yeah,I think if they want to differentiate between the passenger and freight businesses they could just use a reverse livery on the tail with a red roo on a white background, would make it stand out but still clearly identify it as a Qantas plane, sure the words Qantas Freight are there but I think every QF plane should have a kangaroo, after all QF is the "Spirit of Australia-The flying kangaroo".

Qantas provided a Fleet Update this morning

See About Qantas - Media Room - Media Releases - QANTAS GROUP TO BOOST AIRCRAFT FLEET

Key points of the fleet plan update, which covers the period through to the end of FY13:
* the lease of five additional B737-800s, and the extension of leases on two B737-800s, for Qantas
* the lease of 10 additional A320s, and the extension of leases on 11 A320s, for Jetstar
* the lease of one A330-200 for Jetstar
* the purchase of 10 Fokker 100s for Network Aviation
* the lease of two additional B717s for QantasLink

The table at the end of the media relese seems to have gone missing, but is included in the stock exchange announcement

I wonder where the F100s are coming from (? Mexicana)?

Wow that's a huge buy...maybe all the rumours about QFlink returning to OOL are true!

Network aviation is going to be interesting to watch as well, another type looking forward to flying.

Glad the next gen 73H's will be here soon too.

I also wonder if the 717s are ex-MX too?

ISTR they are owned by Boeing, and Boeing are looking to lease them / sell them out to exisiting operators (rather than new to type operators) unless a new operator were to take a large number. There's some talk of Southwest picking them up to replace their 735s as there will be type commonality now SW have purchased AirTran.

Perhaps they were all part of the deal on the 738s etc?

The next of the Jetconnect 738's ZK-ZQE "William Pickering" was delivered to Qantas today as flight QF6024 from Boeing Field via HNL and NAN.
Cheers
