no!!!! As a new Aussie refugee to SIN who is now earning SGD I would much happier for it move back the other direction. I missed my chances on Monday when it briefly fell to $1.03 .....

To me this whole volatility where currencies move up 3% in a matter of hours is symptomatic of why we are in this huge mess in the first place.

As another Aussie refugee in SIN i am not in hurry to see the AUD appreciate against the SGD. parity is nice.

I had to pay 10k gbp today for work and it only came to 21.x odd A$.. i was impressed.

Just imagine how volatile it would be if the brilliance of central banks hadn't led to the great moderation (The Great Moderation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). If anyone ever needed proof that economists, bankers etc haven't got a clue.....

The GBP is in a much worse state than the AUD has ever been in the last couple of months. Low GBP + MASSIVE high street discounts in London = shopping paradise. In that regard, I love the GFC!

Maybe I should shift some of my shopping to London in July... especially as drron's presence in the US is going to make the AUD "sink like a stone" against the USD.

Dont worry keith the aussie has continued rising since i bought.Seems like the old hoodoo still exists which means now the Aussie will sink in April/may,rise june/july and finally disappear beneath the waves in August.

Take up a bit now for July school holiday trip to the US.
Travelex was .712 online today for cash and Westpac was between .728 and .731 for bigger funds transfers.

If you are facing dismal interest rates on deposits maybe you could buy half of that trip cash sooner rather than later.

Interesting to see the GBP at $2. We used to dream of that rate even 20 years ago when I was travelling the UK.
Euro is now 0.56 which is around where it was when the Euro first floated - IIRC that was 0.57.

All this boostering is good for the traveller but not so great for exports. Still I might start buying books through Amazon again soon!

Been watching all three and desperate for it to hang on unitl mid-october (for us, happy for it to wait until mid Nov for you oz_mark!)

NYC
UK
Germany
in our travels

And all currencies looking ok as posted. If AUD$1=50p+ i'll remain very happy, but if it can get closer to AUD$1=EU60c that would be better!

Anything over AUD$1 = US$0.75 will be a bonus (just encourages mrsdoc to shop more which i then have to carry!)
