Everyday Rewards Qantas Credit Card

If one pays using BPay, then the payment must be deemed to have been made at the date¹ you do so, not after the two to four days it can take to come across.

¹ As long as the payment is made before 6pm (or is it 9pm?) on a business day
6pm for Commbank.

If you pay down your outstanding balance and prior period interests plus generous estimate of current period accrued interests, don't you reset the clock and gain interest free period again on all standard purchases from next business day onwards after date of confirmation of payment by them?

After speaking with the call centre twice on this my understanding was that I could regain the interest free period only after two consecutive billing cycles of full balance repayment. For me this translated into paying off the full balance immediately then waiting for two billing cycles without using the card (thus zero balance). I called them back the week after the second month had elapsed to ensure I was back on the interest-free and it was confirmed.

Anyway I asked the call center what can be done to "clear" the ongoing interest and "gain" back the interest free period.....their answer was silence

As mentioned in my response above this one, the CSR's assured me I'd only have to endure intrerest payment for the next two billing cycles. Which then led me on to the same conversation as you had below:

So I then suggested that I would be better not using this card for a few months and use my Amex, I bluntly asked is this what QEDRCC want me to do...? Again silence followed by a whimpy "Is there anything else I can help you out with today"

Yes, likewise. Silence on this and then ask if there is anything else?

I like this card (points earn) but you need to be really careful if you miss a payment...

It is a good earner I agree. Pity it needs a bit of 'management'. My CBA cards which are quite poor earners tend to manage themselves with only minor intervention from me and a usually responsive team when I occassionally stuff up.

Be careful with this. This can be a problem with HSBC (the card issuer). Was this a BPay payment you made?

I don't know tbh. I suppose it must be. Its my banks version of 'pay anyone by EFT' so I guess thats BPay? Perhaps its simnply a transfer?

Their BPay agreement forces them to register payments on they day you make them (as long as this is before your own banks daily cut-off time) I emailed off BPay directly and explained the issue. They sorted it out with HSBC and had my payment back dated on my account to the correct day.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll take a look and see if this can help me in some way. I've since pushed my billing cycle out later in the month as I clear all my accounts early in each month so hopefully I won't stumble in the same way - still, good to know there may be an alternative.

If you don't see something like "BPAY[SUP]®[/SUP]" or a BPay logo, then it's unlikely to be BPay.

I have been sitting back for a while, whilst everyone else is using this card.

I was just wondering how "liberal" HSBC has given credit limit to people here? Given the possible of BPAY delays and interest charges I was wondering whether I should be bothered to apply for the card. At the moment I am using Citibank Gold Visa Fee free and Plat Edge Amex.

If the Visa give 1QF point to $1 spend then it's likely that all you may need.

One caveat is that some Citi products cap the points you can earn; this card does not.

Well put Serfty,
I got the WOW EDR CC because my Earth Gold CC, AMEX/MC combo = $1/1point and $1/0.5 points (bonus on QF sales too). The WOW ERD CC is a great card to have when shops don't accept AMEX, you still have a CC that earns $1/1 point to fill that gap.

For anyone who is interested, 'Cove' has a very informative blog on this site with a 'complete circle' on card usage. I highly recommend subscribing to 'Cove's' blog.

Well I can see who is still running jet lagged Oneworldplus2!My Frequent Flyer Fiend and the Game is a blog that is pretty close to it's finishing line. I have tried to be fair, noted mistakes and shared thoughts on how to fly almost purely on points that are created from our business and personal lives and takes about 90 minutes a week to play.Putting my feet into more than one camp looks like a touch of genius but it was just that I didn't want to have to buy a one way ticket to get back home any time soon so having QF and Kris points has worked really well.It is written by a flyer who is not a guru and the Woolworths EDR card has been helpful for QF points one per dollar when American Express is not offered or the fee to use it is too high.

Had my first issue with paypass / pay at the pump / woolworths petrol....

No e-receipt was emailed for this transaction, this may be a problem for business users of this facility. I guess at least there is still a transaction record on the monthly statement for tax purposes...!

I have never received an email receipt!

However, you can look them up and print them off a .pdf using the online portal.

After logging on, look under "Every Day Money":

My experience with this was that the PDF receipt was there for the ones that I had already received via email.

The first time I did not receive a receipt via email there was no PDF on the website either.

Speaking of receipts, has anyone else noticed that when using the self service check outs, it now asks if you want a receipt for your transaction?

Yeah, it has been this way for awhile. Also the check out operators ask you if your purchase is <$30. I think there might be problems with Woolworths doing this, I mean how do they process a refund without a receipt?

You mean < $30 (i.e. less than 30 dollars)? Seems odd why they would always give you a receipt for a small purchase but ask if you make a big one.

I don't know about the other states, but I suppose in QLD the answer is simple: you lose.

If the product has an inherent fault, the retailer is definitely obligated to offer you a refund, however if you can't prove that you bought it from Woolworths, I think the TPA doesn't require the retailer to oblige you with a refund in that case. After all, you could've just flogged it off someone else......

Of course, some people working at Woolworths couldn't give half a damn and might just give you the refund without any questions asked. After all, it's not like they'd really get in trouble or anything, right?

 Whoops you are of course correct I did mean <$30.

I think the asking if you want a receipt started at Caltex service stations and spread from there.

Not a good trend.

Got this today, apparently I'm a "great" customer and have been offered a 20% increase in credit limit of this card. I did not request this increase but will accept it as I sometimes struggle to keep within my current limit on this card... Anybody else get one of these...?

Yep, I got exactly the same letter, I'll be taking the credit limit increase too.

Similarly here, in my case though a 30% increase. I've never got near to exhausting my current limit but I'm the sort who likes the convenience of a large limit for the odd occasion it is needed.

I do wonder why they couldn't include the letter in with my monthly statement - that arrived in a separate envelope in the same post.

Richard.
