Earn A|Club points by checking in at Accor Hotels

Over two weeks since I checked in while staying. Nothing posted to account.
Will keep you updated.

When you stay at an Accor Hotel, just "check in" on Facebook to let the world know you are there. Ie, go into your Facebook page and near where you update your status click on "Checkin" - I think though you need to try and work out which is the official Accor location on FB as I tried at an Ibis and there were a few locations for that hotel and it didn't end up working)

OK - I think I've got it. Is it meant to show up immediately on the app? It hasn't.

Rant: Is there any website that is less intuitive than facebook? Of course there is no button with "checkin" written on it. They have tried to be clever and drawn a tiny little meaningless icon instead.

And where is the tiny little meaningless icon?

When you're typing in your status it is on the the little grey bar underneath the text box. It is like a map marker (I guess it's obvious once you know what it is). I have no idea what the icon next to it does (a person with a + sign).

So I went to the A-Club Places app to see if my check-in yesterday had worked, and when I click on the big green "GO!" button, nothing happens. Stuff like this is why I find facebook infuriating.

I was getting Gateway errors. Anyway, I stayed at a Novotel in Bangkok for the last few days, and nothing ever popped up in A-club places.

I think I may just give up on this app.

The app is a joke. I have just stayed at 3 different Accor properties in Australia and none of them came up on A|Club Places. I was also at the Sofitel Chicago 2 weeks ago and it's still pending authorisation.

My theory is that if they can't even get your normal A|Club points right, how will they ever get these ones right. They are just using it so you can promote Accor properties to your friends on FB.

Interesting thing is that I have not really had much trouble getting my normal A|Club points (had to chase once). For my Bangkok stay, the normal points posted the day after checkout.

The real problem with A|Club places is the lack of documentation about what should be happening. I have concluded this has been done on purpose to prevent anyone making claims against them

You are lucky - I think I have to chase up about 60% of my stays - they either don't post or post incorrectly. Often if I book 2 rooms, I only get points for one, and if I ever book point specials - like double points - they rarely come through.

Im sick of it - and I am now platinum based on stays - so there has been a lot of them.

Only took a month but...

I got the same email today too. I've also stayed at other hotels (Mercure Brisnane, Hobart and Adelaide) and it never came up on places after checking in.

As a test i have checked into ibis brisbane, mercure brisbane and novotel brisbane city and none appeared on the app... Even as pending. Have more hotels to test but maybe they just arent registered properly.

Ok, I've tested Accor hotels around Brisbane.

Novotel Brisbane Airport will register.
Mercure Clear Mountain will register.
Sofitel Brisbane will register.

Formule 1 Brisbane Airport - doesn't.
Novotel Brisbane City - doesn't.
Mercure Brisbane City - doesn't.
Ibis Brisbane City - doesn't.

Note a successful registration will turn up in the app as "awaiting" within 5 mins or so. (PS. I expect them to move to "denied" or similar at a later stage as I'm not actually staying at any of those hotels).

Very hit'n'miss.

I have just checked in at Novotel Perth Langley and it has worked on A-Club places.

I had also emailed Accor and was advised to send screen shots from FB to [email protected] and they will look into my check-ins and hopefully add the points - will wait and see.
