FWIW, I think DJ are refitting to a budget and reusing exixting seats (row 4 back perhaps).
On the weekend, I had a refit BNE-MEL which were the old seats (row 7), still with ife but re-upholstered in the the new black (charcoal??) leather. I also had row 3 with the new (much comfier) seats in the new leather without the ife but I also had a refit SYD-OOL with the old blue seats, but J fitted (presumably one pulled back into service to suit the QF debarcle).
So if DJ intends to refit all the seats with the newies, why re-upholster them now?? That doesn't make financial sense. I'm tending to believe the new seats will be used on select rows only and the older (far less comfier seats) re-upholstered and refitted to the rear of the aircraft. They also must be planning to either keep the old screens with the new ife system, or have a fixed unit (or a fixed, mount/charger for portable ife) to cover the big bloody hole in the brand new upholstery!
