I'm hypothesising, but you should get the current Premium Economy service - full selection of whatever you want from the paid Economy menu, included in your fare. The seats should be a nice bonus.

True, I wonder why Virgin offers a MEL-PER-DRW but not on the return flight.

Althought if you book them seperately, to experience the coast-to-coast Airbus business class service, DRW-PER, 2 hour wait at Perth then PER-SYD-MEL.

It makes the journey from DRW-MEL 14 hours long! but imagine the adventure..... lol

Small point - 14 hours will get me from MEL to LAX, more or less.. certainly a nicer 14 hours to be spending in the sky! ;)

Then again, I'm very guilty of ridiculous runs through the US that took way longer than a direct flight would have taken, so I can't really talk..

hahaha well 14 hours is also the same time it takes to fly from Sydney to Abu Dhabi on V Australia....or Melbourne to Sydney on the countrylink train (been there done that, thank you Chilean volcano)

If I was travelling solo from DRW-MEL, I'd certainly take the long way, but I don't think my other 2 travelling companions would put up with my cross country 14 hours itinerary.

I found one of the flights, PER-SYD-MEL, is flown all the way in the Airbus metal, so thats the huge 60" seat all the way to Melbourne!

That's the same seat map I am being shown for my two flights this week (DJ816 on Thursday and DJ885 on Friday) and since they show the exit row as rows 13 & 14 I am fairly certain these are aircraft equipped with the new interior. I'll report back on Thursday once i've flown the first leg...

At this stage -

DJ 816 SYD - MEL is scheduled to be VH- VBV 737-700
DJ 885 MEL - SYD is scheduled to be VH- VOK 737-800 ( refitted interior with business class)

but things can change

Its showing the same for my brothers BNE - SYD leg of his transcon on Friday. *(DJ950)
I will get him to email me one he hits the lounge in Syd to confirm if he had proper business seats...

At this stage -

DJ 950 BNE-SYD is scheduled to be VH- VOU 737-800 ( refitted interior with business class)
