Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Looking to earn 55 status credits by the end of October this year, to reach Silver. My departure airport is Melbourne. Suggestions please
With the current sale on QF you could do MEL-LST-MEL-SYD-BNE-MEL for less than 450$ and 55 SC. Maybe some JQ flights with bundle would be cheaper...
Only you can decide if it's worth it, but I don't think PS is worth 450$, except maybe for extra baggage allowance if you travel heavy...

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Given that you're 55 SCs short, and it takes 50 SCs less to retain than to gain, if you're going to fly a similar amount next year (and beyond), I think it's worth doing.

Plus bonus points if you register for the current promo on the QF website and fly on a QF flight number.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I'm hoping I get a double status credits offer soon, however I am not relying upon it. I will be 60sc short of first time platinum. Any ideas for economical status runs out of PER or SYD (will be there in October?).

Wait for a sale and do SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD for $450~? Would be a very early morning and a late evening, that's the cheapest option I can think of so far.

Thanks. If I can get it for that price, it will be awesome. However it has to be on a select few dates in October (as I am in Syd then), so ill have to see...

I've just checked the earning points calculator and that is only going to give me 40 SC. 10SC for each flight in discount economy. Am I doing something wrong in the earnings calculator?

Did you check out the Extended Happy Hour sales yesterday ?
Unfortunately I didnt :(

cough I forgot to add CNS. It's meant to be SYD-BNE-TSV-CNS-TSV-BNE-SYD. I picked up half of that itin for late January for $227.45, had a look and the reverse was the same price and available.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I'm considering a BNE-SYD-CGK J trip at Xmas for ~$2025 return for 325 SC. It'd be 487 SC for me with the 50% bonus offer, which would bring it down to $4.16/SC which I think isn't bad value given the time of year.

Just in case that's useful for someone ....

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi Everyone. I am currently a WP totally earned from my own leisure travel and out of my own pocket. However, I've been ill during the year and have consequently only managed 600 SC's to date. My anniversary year ends January 31 2015 and I'm wondering if anyone would be kind enough to make some suggestions on how to retain WP - earn another 600 SC's as quickly and cheaply as possible. I am prepared to fly to the US or within Asia to achieve this on other OW carriers. I'd appreciate any Pvt Msg's from fellow AFF members. Happy to offer a small token gesture of thanks if proceed and achieve your Status Run suggestion

Wow. 600SC at the new earn rates is not a cheap exercise. Could you live with SG and when you actually need/want to fly book a seat at the pointy end as required? If you're seriously considering spending that sort of cash I'd be looking for a DONE4 or DONE 5 and making a decent holiday of it rather than flying for the sake of it.

Captain not sure what you mean when you say DONE4 or DONE5....

*ONEx is the One World Explorer RTW fare. Where the * denotes which class the trip is in and the x denotes how many continents you can travel through.

As CaviAck says it's a type of round the world fare. Check the One World website for full details, but ex. Australia you need to travel through 4 continents (by OW definition, not your primary school geography) and can have a certain number of stop overs. Part of the attraction is that if you pick 4 main ports and calculate the cost... anding a few nearby stop overs doesn't add that much additional cost - but well chosen can add significant SCs.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I'm in the same position (well, without the illness thankfully) but I've decided a soft landing to SG will do just nicely.

Mind you, if I got a DSC offer and a pile of annual leave early next year, I'm sure I'd change my mind! :D

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Could a member of the AFF brains trust save me trawling the T&Cs by answering this question please: if one was to book a trans-con in the US, are SC calculated for the start finish destination as though it were a single sector, or do you get the SC for each sector?
