Thank you- now xSYD means a flight that is Mel-ASP but routed thru SYD is that right? I just search for JASA flights until I find one that involves a stop?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Correct - MEL-xSYD-ASP means Melbourne to Sydney to Alice Springs, with Sydney treated as a transit stop. Different planes (and flight numbers) for MEL-SYD and SYD-ASP, but Qantas price it like a direct flight because SYD is transit.

And re searching, again yes, but you're making it sound harder than it is :) Every time I've searched for a MEL-ASP ASA I've immediately been shown a variety of options, including MEL-ASP, MEL-xADL-ASP and MEL-xSYD-ASP (the latter is the routing with the highest SC earn). Just keep looking at different days until you find a JASA for 3x,xx_ points each way, which will reduce down to 24,000 points each way once you reduce the points component to the minimum.

Haha - man I hope they shoot another season of Come Fly With Me.

Me too! AVgeeks around the world died and went to heaven when that came on!

Did a quick search, and just realised if just 200SC are needed, could save points and cash by going MEL-ASP direct (in Y for 20,000) and then J back from ASP-SYD-MEL for a total of 58,000 points all up or 36,000 + $215...

Not quite enough:
MEL-ASP in Y is 30
ASP-xSYD-MEL in J is 120 SCs

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

You'd think QF would learn their lesson having looked at my booking profile...least revenue generating passenger ever. Almost all price match bookings (puts hand up to price matching a Tiger $2 airfare to Melbourne and paying $1.80...LOL). Only time they'd make money is when I book JASAs with my points.

Booked yet to earn

Current Balance 645
SYD - FRA / MUC - LHR / LHR - SYD = 250 SC (500 Double Credits) PE
SYD - WGA - SYD = 30 SC (60 Double Credits) Y

Total at end of June will be 1205 makes it 195 SC short of Platinum for the first time

Currently have 173,000 points and want to spend max 200, for a JASA

Have looked at SYD - ASP - SYD and SYD-MEL - HBA - SYD

Any recommendations on best value to hit the numbers I need. ??

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

MEL-SYD-ASP
48,000 and $300 for 240SC return

Just booked this one :)

48000 Points
$268.29
For 240 SC return
6272 Points back for the flight
So 41728 points spent, so 173 points per SC

A nice way to spend the day I say

A330 MEL-SYD as well

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

The dates you are looking for could determine the amount of points the JASA would cost. Perhaps try other dates? MEL-SYD-ASP usually has good availability. Do an ASA search Mel-ASP and the connecting option should come up...

Search for SYD-HBA-MEL-SYD JASA (Can be done on a Sat afternoon/evening) for 140SC's (280 Double promo) and $215

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

As Serfty points out, the best runs are all posted in this and the thread. For example, the SYD-xBNE-TSV return run can still be done as a day return on a Saturday for $200 and 54k points to earn 200 SCs during double offer.
