Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

As Serfty points out, the best runs are all posted in this and the thread. For example, the SYD-xBNE-TSV return run can still be done as a day return on a Saturday for $200 and 54k points to earn 200 SCs during double offer.

Return JASA SYD-BNE-TSV round trip would actually be 400sc once DSC has been applied.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

You corrected me before I got a chance to do it myself! More than required but still well within the limits requested.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I dont need to do a status run as such but Iam required in CHC this month, an award Business class fare over and scaby return will give me 200SC by my calcs with DSC? or 320 SC business both ways?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Considering qantas never checks who is flying on what boarding pass domestically are there people out there that live in places like Townsville, Darwin etc that would openly go on a status run (for someone else). Ie for someone living in Perth this would be quite beneficial as a Perth -Darwin return would not have to be booked. Probably not in the spirit of the program but a thought..

Probably best not to go down that path for all sorts of reasons.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

People have done this before, usually to get the 4 ~ for someone living overseas. The risk of detection = low, but the consequences if you are = very bad.

AFAIK neither do DJ JQ or TT.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

here's a new option for SC run using points on JASA (for those SYD based)- 240 SC

SYD/MNL/SYD

Using same plane up and back

You stay in Transit/transfer area at MNL (no need to go through passport control). I am advised the homeward boarding pass will be obtainable at the Transfer desk. Plane is on the ground 1hr 25 min

leaves Syd at 12.35pm back at 6.30am next day

Advantages

IF WP then F Lounge experience
IFE all the way
Better meals than a domestic SC run
Better wines than a domestic SC run
Flat bed (hope Mk2 seats) on way back
No hotels costs
No waiting for domestic connections
Hopefully a shower at MNL then back on the plane

At work for a normal day next day

Pretty expensive option IMHO, less SC than TSV-DRW at 3x the raw point cost.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Re SYD MDL SYD... The engine didn't seem to let me pick the flight back on the same day

Even if you could it looks like the cost would be 120,000 points + $640 for 240SC... doesn't seem like a good status really... of course there are the benefits you've listed... personal preference as to weather that's worth it?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I agree with the cost numbers, its actually about 183k points for the trip with no cash

You cant get the online site to make it work, but need to get QFF centre to do the booking manually

I have plenty of points, so the conveniences outway the points burn compared with domestic options :)

A day trip to AKL ex SYD via BNE would net the same SC for less points and more convenience!

Thats possible with a saving of about 30k points and no overnight. Needs a 6.00am departure though from SYD.

I did need to get 305 SC's though, so I had palnned the original flight getting back to SYD at 6.30am and then doing a JASA to Melbourne for a work day.

Tks for your ideas

Markis10 do you have to clear immigration in AKL or can you stay in transit as plane is on ground for no more than 1 hour?

A quick and easy transit via the transfer desk, security rescreen, and straight back into the lounge :)

Tks for that.

As i have plenty of points, I think all the running between domestic and Internatioanl terminals at BNE might not be worth it, rather just get the SYD/MNL return

Have a few doays to ponder the outcome?

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Regarding the ex TPE options - does anyone know how to book the QF codeshare on BR which operates TPE-BNE-SYD on Fridays?

The only place I've been able to find it online is with edreams at astronomical prices.

(Also, if the QF code is ticketed would this attract double status credits? :))

Why you would book TPE to Australia on a codeshare???????
