I don't think it was rude at all. Indeed there was a spreadsheet with exact details of JASA trips people used to manage to book.

Thanks hossein_au :)
As a relative newcomer to the community I still have many lessons to learn from more experienced members.
i find I struggle a little bit finding the best SC options sometimes and I'm sure this has cost me points sometimes

it will come with time :)

Welcome to the community. There is a wealth of information and knowledge here on the site and amongst the members. Just keep reading and keep asking....

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Hi Amaroo,

is it too rude of me to ask for a rough idea of what the cash/points breakup was for the following run
F/JASA BNE-SYD-LHR-SYD-BNE last month produced 920SC

of course I fully understand if you choose not to answer:)

Cheers

No worries. As already pointed out these babies are no longer bookable.

IIRC the cost was around 380,000 points and $2.2k pp. Earning 920SC and ~ 85,000 points.

IIRC all up my 1,400SC will have cost $4.5k and 500,000 QFFP ... I get back ~ 125,000 of those points and collect 2/4 8k loyalty bonuses along the way and will easily achieve the third set in the next 9 months

I did it in 6 weeks, 13 flights, three carries - QF, BA, 3K.
4xF
7xJ
2xY

And people wonder why QF axed these lucrative awards!

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Thanks for sharing amaroo ;)
Wow that has to be the best status run I've ever seen on these forums.

It's no wonder at all the little Irishman put a stop to it lol

I could have probably managed the $4.5k but points wise i wasn't anywhere near that rich anyway

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

From Canberra it was possible to achieve WP renewal in six days for 141,584 points (net) and $1,823.04, or roughly half that if you had a double SC offer.

Those who preferred Adelaide to Hobart or using points instead of cash could have opted for 235,244 points and $1,211.04 instead.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Nice trixydoza, but there's the catch.... 'WAS' possible :(

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

So here's where someone experienced in status runs might be able to offer a relative newbie some advice, if I wanted to gain 260 SC's before end of August purchase only (not using my points) Ex Sydney.. what would you suggest is my best option

Are you prepared to spend somewhere in the order of $2,000 to do it?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Not really for 260 trixydoza, but in saying that I kind of figured that would be the spend LOL
What did you have in mind

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

260 SC's is a doddle for maybe AU$600 - if in the USA!

Of course, getting there and back is likely to cost significantly more than that ...

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

SYD - AKL/CHC in F gives (NOT cheap), 240 return, if you go via MEL/BNE, silly idea I know and I repeat, not cheap, you can get 260 SC.
Dom does not have to be in J though, only over the ditch (Tasman Sea).
OR this...
SYD - AKL F 120 SC
AKL - NAN J 60 SC
NAN - BNE J 80 SC
BNE - SYD discY 10 SC
Totals 270 SC

I've just been taking a look at this one and can't seem to get it below $1455 USD (RETURN) - any hints?

Try two bookings. I got it to about $1240 return for 510 SCs. Not the best value out there at the moment though.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Sam, the status runs come and go so that's why the price varies so dramatically. Have a look at Google flights with biz cabin and Oneworld filters set showing on the map.

Thanks, I've never tried that technique. I'm curious to know why you would use biz rather than First as I thought those were the better runs.

I'm giving the spreadsheet a workout doing some research for an upcoming trip to LOTFAP. I need to go LAX-LAS so I ran some combinations. Looks like I won't be using any of these, but why waste all the hard work when it might at least give others some ideas. Here's the need to know bits:
*All flights are LAX-LAS for dates around mid-July.
* Duration is in hours, rounded up to the nearest whole number.
* Please double check the SC earn and don't book a run on my questionable maths.
* Prices are in AUD
* Based on ITA data and not cross-checked with AA.com

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

'Biz' shows Business class fares and higher (I, D, J, A, P, F).

Some cheaper fares the the Caribbean (for example) are "business" fares and book into I for the international segment to/from the USA; while connecting flights within the USA can book into First (A/P).

Here's another row for your table:

FROMTOVIADURATIONCARRIERCLASSSCPRICEVALUE
LAXLASORD,MIA,ATL,CLT,PHX?AA (US*)F450$1,3713.05

Sorry, I didn't work out the minimum duration. All flights are on AA flight numbers, but ATL-CLT-PHX-LAS sectors are on US metal.
