More research I don't want to go to waste. This time from LAS-SLC.

* All flights LAS-SLC around mid-July.
* Please double check the SC earn and don't book a run on my questionable maths.
* Prices in AUD
* Based on ITA data. Not checked on AA.com

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I'm doing a bit of a weekend in Barbados next weekend I'll try my best to do a brief report on the trip and the pain involved.
The routing is HNL-DFW-MIA-BGI rtn. The only overnight sector is HNL-DFW on the sloping lie-flat 763. Cost is $1850 for 700 SC. I'm using points for hotels so incidentals should be low. Fingers crossed there's no IRROPS and of course it goes without saying I will be doing this HLO :)

I've done something similar once, Barbados immigration had a few questions about it, they weren't too convinced about a status run

Jeez Louise! My recent Status Run to the Bangkok Peninsula pool looks amateurish against that .... although, significantly more relaxing!

I have a weekend there to recover :D
Then I begin the trip back to HNL :D

I had my honeymoon in Barbados so it's nice to visit there again, although this time solo.

Hmnnnn, then I guess the classic Barbados joke was possibly modelled on you - but in case not (or to remind you): Have a nice day? ;):p.

ROFL!! There were no tattoos involved fortunately.
The biggest issue I am having with this trip is whether or not to pre-book my AA F entrees :mrgreen:

Is that really the biggest thing that you can think of pre-Barbados :confused::shock::p:mrgreen:.

I would stay away from the entrees at the moment. I have just come back from the USA twice in 2 months, with far too may domestic F Sectors on AA.
The quality of the meals IMO have dropped dramatically this year. I used the pre-order system for 4 out of 6 sectors and with a 25% success rate. Only one of them were correct (loaded on the air craft). The FA said that the pre-order system was more trouble than it is worth. By the way, no cookies or ice cream sundaes either.
Sorry about the OT post !!

Thanks for that. I have 4 sectors to and from HNL so I'm pretty hopeful of sundaes on those :)

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Out of Sydney return is 240 for $2050: $8.54 per SC
You could do SYD-AKL-SYD in EK First for another $100 or so (if you book the return flight through QF NZ). Slightly more expensive, but it would be a great experience. It's 120SCs X2.

A question, which is probably a silly one. Will I earn QF status credits on a LAN numbered flight? I'm looking at a status run while comparing some trans-tasman business class options (which I'll be sure to report on here and on youtube).

Is the SC earn the same on all One World airlines the same or has that changed recently (ie. Syd-Santiago the same SC earn on either QF 747s or LANs 787s)?

Yes you'll earn SCs on LA numbered flights. However it won't be at the same rate as QF flights on the same routes. Due to fairer and simpler SC earn is not equal across all airlines or routes.

Thanks. How would I find out how many SCs are earnt? I'm particularly interested in SYD-AKL on a LAN number in J.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Oh I didn't see that option on the calculator. Many thanks!!

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

I never trust that calculator....

All my MH Flex (top economy option above MHBasic and MHSale) fare flights ended up being calculated by Qantas as discount economy. Very irritating as I'll be right on the edge of WP this year.

Then booking on the qantas site selecting the flex option, some sectors it put into discount economy, explanation was that "the system works differently when booking tickets from OS" (i booked when in Vietnam) and "the flex fare was sold out on that flight". Really.... the flex fare sold out so only selling cheap tickets. Had to argue and was eventually credited the SCs for the Qantas bookings, but not the MH.

Now I take 3x screen shots through the booking process, ready for a fight with them.

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview!

Hi All

Living in Bali for a while and commuting back to Adelaide a lot (every 2 weeks at least). Flight time is not super important to me so I thought I should make the most of the travelling and try my best to gain SC's. I am aiming to boost Qantas points. Any suggestions of some routes to take
