Demise of the hot towel and the lavatory hand towels

VA Dom J isn't anything to rave about....
The Trans Con is sensational. Dual hot towel service (upon takeoff and top of descent :p).

I haven't flown QF J since they've 'enhanced' meals, but based on what i've seen in the posts here, VA are beating them.

Agree reading a paper certainly makes one look like a tosser. I much prefer to engage in angry staring matches with the Y passengers as they traipse down the aisle.

The airlines need to pull the finger out and start providing some services.

They still provide hot towel on ViaRail (Canadian Rail)......very refreshing when it's minus 25c:shock:

Posting this aboard train 62 Tornoto-Montreal.....lovely ride!

I also had 'dual' hot towel service in Y recently. Just after take off and prior to decent (...wait a minute, I got mixed up. I was on SQ)

Awesome! The amount of space you get even in Economy on Viarail is suburb! I once took their legendary " Canadian" rail Trip from Toronto to Vancouver in first class, 4 days as opposed to 4 hours flying...... It was worth it!

Montreal is my favourite city in Canada, might be a little cold there atm, but still a cultural Mecca where both anglophone's & francaphone's mingle together!

Wet towels are provided in business on 45 minute MH flights.

Cold on boarding (a small flake of ice was still on mine) followed by a Hot towel after the cabin service.

They are not the small thin wishy washy refugees from the lavatory, but full "Terry" towelling.

Newspapers are specifically left at the lounge exit to be taken including AFR.

Im pretty sure I've seen either on the newspapers or where you can pick them up from, in the PER QP a note suggesting to leave them in the lounge. Hmmm...perhaps I was just imagining it? Also in PER never seen any papers handed out or available to pick up at the exit to the QP. Sometimes see them at the start of the air-bridge though.

I'll pay more attention on Thursday when I'm next there.

Due to the extra time involved with wheelchair assist, there is often no reasonable time left to justify a stop via the Lounge (so I prefer not faffing everyone about, and going directly to the gate [unless there is need for a urgent toilet stop] - you have to be taken on board before general boarding, and I don't wish to be that pax that holds everyone up for an on-time departure).

It's not a be-all or end-all for me anyway - if they have AFR on-board, or at the gate (as I go past), I'll take it. If not I survive or take another paper or listen to the IFE radio channels. I'm not hard to please lol.

The hot towels were a little thing, but one I really liked. If they keep chipping away at the little things all we are left with are the things that don't really exist like priority boarding and baggage.

With papers disappearing as well, all I'm left with is 'count the stains on the seat' and 'which seat is that smell coming from' games.

It would be great if they pin coded the forward toilets in J preventing the unsullied from using them and forcing them to linger back beyond the curtain.;)

Now that's the best idea that I've seen all week.

And we can peer over our newspapers and have a giggle as they try to crack the code. :D

31 Dec QF23 SYD-BKK hot towels and F amenties kit.
04 Jan QF24 BKK-SYD no hot towels and new J (pencil case) amenities kit.

J travel both ways. Same seat as well.

F amenities kit... the new SKII ones or the Payot ones?

J bathrooms are already massively inferior to CX and SQ J...I even rememeber SQ Y being better!

The Payot one.

Which IMHO are far better than the new ones atleast they have the lip Balm in them :D

see now i like those Payot kits and they aren't available anymore! (except for the lip balm... I gave away a whole stack of them to a serial lip balm user!)

Maybe QF has a deal with SKII - but in my ideal world they'd offer a choice to F pax until stocks had been depleted. A cost-zero service improvement!
