Hi all,

Apologies if this is a noob question, but does this sound right?

I'm on a DCIRC26 and just rang up to request a change to an LAX-DFW flight. Same day, same route, just 40min later.

Was told I'd need to have the entire ticket reissued at a price of $110. AA's rules.

Is that right? I'm SURE I've made similar AA dom changes on DONE4s before, no fee no hassle.

Appreciate any advice. :)

Cheers.

Which airline issued the ticket and which airline is making the change?

It is my understanding that a date/time change which does not affect the routing, booking class etc, should not require a reissue, just a revlaidation. But if you are asking AA to make the change to a QF-issued ticket, they may believe they need to reissue the ticket onto AA ticket number.

If you booked though AA originally this is strange.

Who did you call to make the change?

Is this $110 a service fee? A re-issue fee for an xCIRnn is USD125.

In any case, before or after departure the following is consistent:

Thanks guys. Thought I posted a response earlier but the iPhone app doesn't seem to have sent it (I blame Vodafone).

The fare was purchased through our corp TA, and I'm 99.9% sure they ticket everything through QF. The lady there did say that if they can revalidate the ticket, there's no fee, but that AA don't allow re-validation.

Not sure where the $110 comes from - when she said there was a fee, I said "Oh, $125USD?" and she said "No, $110".

I left the fare as-is (I'll get up 40min earlier, not a huge deal...), but it still strikes me as strange.

Cheers,

AA tend to re-issue these types of fares for all changes - however they will not charge a re-issue fee if re-validation was all that was required.

:idea:More and more, it makes sense to endeavour to book such fares through AA.

If on QF paper the AA flight will not revalidate, will need to reissue. Same if changing CX too, as suprisingly most of the OW carriers systems to not mesh for revalidations.

No idea on the fee, could be they are charging a service fee to change another carriers ticket.

..and yet, oddly enough I called up yesterday to ask about changing another AA domestic flight (to a slightly earlier flight this time - same day same route) and it was done no problem, without charge.

Our TA is way too inconsistent... :-|
