Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

The 'deals' keep coming, not massive points but the review is solid.

"This is your classic, big McLaren Vale style. Is it subtle, well not really, but who cares with this level of decadence and flavour. Everything is turned up to the max with jammy, lashings of dark fruit matched up to equally powerful, sweet coconut scented oak with just enough eucalypt and spice to add a savoury edge. That fruit density is echoed on the palate with fruit richness, power and length, with well integrated tannins. Don’t think too much, just enjoy."

Howard Park are calling around... anyone have experience with their Marchand and Burch 2021 Villages Shiraz and the 2022 Howard Park Cellar Collection Cab Shiraz?

The box is inexpensive but that doesn't mean it's good value!!

The former is on Winestar for $13pb (and perhap VM has tried to flog it too). I find the terms "2022" and "Cellar Collection" in the same sentence to be laughable. Not tried either.

I’ve ordered the Villages Shiraz and then they offered 6x Howard Park Leston Shiraz 2018 for $20 bottle as well. Opening one up tomorrow

Dang. I would go for some of the leston at that price. Whatever ppl say about margs shiraz I've always found it v tasty. But was too wary about the other bottles in the mix I was looking at.

Just received a text from Qantas Wine advertising 70% off Rosenthal The Marker Mount Barker Pinot Noir 2022 ($180 for a case of 12). No idea if it's any good or not, but at just over $10 per bottle (after using my $50 Points Club voucher) I expect it'll be hard to complain. Would be keen to hear thoughts from anyone who has tried it!

Margs Shiraz can sometimes be a bit too savoury. I have had a few vintages of Leston Shiraz and it is a quality wine.

Also interested to hear…. I’m low on pinot and looking for a deal ;-)

Sense of Taste has a pack of 3 x Nebu and 1 x Shadrach for $200 ($50 a bottle). Not the lowest I've seen these, but not a bad price.

Although I note shipping is a little exxy (about $20 for me).

$19.86 shipping for me kills the deal.

Night 1 with some bbq pizza the Villages shiraz was a bit underwhelming. Night 2 with Pesto Chicken and Caprese salad, is like a different wine - much more enjoyable and happy to have got @ $16 bottle

Will have to try bottle 2 and see which experience holds true

JD Cellars #720 looks to be Mandala The Prophet Pinot Noir- anyone tried it and have a view?
Got both the Prophet & Matriarch via VM a few years ago.
Both were really good, the Matriarch was perhaps the more feminine of the two? ;)
Though the Prophet might cellar for longer?
Do you have a link or price, please?🍷
