"The grapes were grown on the sandy loam soils of the 1823 planting on Bainton Vineyard at Broke. It's a particularly good semillon with intensity of flavour and great texture and structure. Citrus fruit and minerally acidity are in a balletic epic duel as they pirouette across the palate and into the far distance."
97 Points and 'Special Value' James Halliday (2021)

I'm seeing Moss Wood cab for $83 but not much else of interest out my way. Some of the "clearance" prices are laughable.

Bainton Vineyard supply grapes to McGuigan’s and Keith Tulloch Wines. McGuigan's don't appear to have a semillon in that price range, Keith Tulloch Wines do.

The prices can be laughable to start.
Mostly the prices are determined by a computer which sets the price and determines whether it is selling at that price, if not it will knock it down a bit. This happens every Thursday, no guarantee that it will do it every week, but if the wine hangs around long enough it should get to half price. This is the time to buy. Obviously there are people who don't wait for the half price, they go with what they feel is a good deal. So, you either play the waiting game or snap it up when you feel you have a good deal.
Reds have only started in the past couple of weeks so there won't be a many bargains around yet, although I did notice quite a few that got a good first up price slash last week

I would avoid the keith Tulloch and instead go for this

It's tyrrells Belford single vineyard 2014 at 40% off. I've bought a full case of this at this price. Cheaper than Tyrrells member price. Its a great wine from a great vintage and already 9 years old.

Finally got the $30 credit applied to my account and ordered a shiraz welcome case. (It's been a good Friday!)

Note that I had to clear cookies for the site before the cart would operate correctly (it had several cases from previous attempts to order the welcome case).

Some great looking wine on the auction list. Having never participated in a sale like this, I wonder if the price will be good or if when the bidding competition, buyer's premium and transport is taken into account it's not amazing (I did a little bit of Langton's years ago and found it that way...). Anyone got any experience?

Note that MGS do not normally ship auction wines.

How do I get my goods packed and sent?

If you are unable to pickup your goods in person, depending on the type of auction, we can pack them for you for a small charge but it's up to you to organise you own transport. MGS cannot recommend any courier company. Please research them before organising transport. Please contact us to find out how much packing will be.

Yes, thanks, I did see that. Courier would cost me between $20-40 I guess. Just toying with whether a box of old John Riddoch would be worth even thinking about

Wondering that too, no doubt all the well known stuff will go for a mint, but wondering if there's some low hanging fruit worth a punt on even for something with a bit of age.
