Seems at odds with most people's DM experience here - most people have reported no issues returning incorrect vintages. Note that the "current vintage" wines have a note saying you might get something else - this is because the UPC barcodes don't change from year to year, and apparently DM's systems aren't able to track what specific vintages are available. When marketing a specific vintage (e.g the cellar release stuff), DM affixes its own barcode, replacing the winery's one, and you should get the specific vintage you've ordered.

Just passing on a report of the experience. That's simply how it was.

Was this over the phone? or in-store? If in-store, which store, so we can all avoid it in future!

If they have two vintages up, at two different prices, then being charged more for the lower-priced one would surely be a breach of ACL.

They auctioned off all of the bottles that didn't disappear at the end of last year/earlier this year, through a number of auction houses, at ridiculously cheap prices.
First thing, I bought a few old shirazes from them last year for a bargain. The labels had G.Range Shiraz and I had not heard of them previously.
Secondly, I got what I paid for, pretty much balsamic vinegar. Thirdly, I am jesting.

The liquidator of Wine Investment Services (one of the companies of David James), McGrathNicol, had been selling a huge stock of wine on GraysOnline for months last year! Hope that those wines were not the inventory of Mr James' customers.

Doubt it - that was the seized stuff. The problem seems to be stuff they couldn't find...
