Does anyone know if there is any similar programme for Starwood hotels?

IIRC and one purchases the Ambassador status (for IC hotels) then this is thrown in "free".

Apart from the "normal" Starwood Preferred loyalty guest program, not to my knowledge, though I'm happy to be corrected.

Answering my own question after doing some research, Starwood has the Privilege Program.

Well done Johan, and thanks for posting the link. This Starwood program looks pretty comprehensive in the Asia Pacific region covering Aust, China, Korea, Malaysai, Thailand, Fiji etc...

I believe the Hilton one only covers Oz :( .

+ AKL.

Note that Starwood's are dissapearing from Oz/Nz at an alarming rate.

Has anyone gone through the process toi find out how much this program costs. Based on the others I know of (Hilton, ICH group, Hyatt. Accor), I would guess around the $250 mark, but it seems you need to speak to a sales consultant to find out.

Also, anyone know what the premium level after three years membership brings?

Excellent tip Lindsay Wilson. I have just been booked into the Sydney Intercontinental as the Hilton was full. I've never stayed there, but our company TA gave a glowing recommendation.

I've joined Priorty Club this afternoon. I have to say that it looks like a great program, even from my very brief browse of the site.

oz_mark, Platinum Privilege this used to be $225 (when I was a member about 5 years ago). I gave it up during a lull in my travel. Last I heard it was $275 (last year??). With the dearth of SPG hotels now in Aust/Pacific, it makes it a harder proposition to extract the same amount of value than say PC (or Hilton's, now that they are reducing benefits).

Damien, you wouldn't happen to have any Elite status with other frequent gueat programs?? If so, then a status match is in order - before you stay at IC Sydney. For example, Hilton Gold will get you matched to PC Platinum (highest tier).... but SPG Gold will only get you PC Gold :?. To obtain status match, photocopy/download the latest statement (showing status) and ring PC Rewards on 02 9935 8362 - ask for status match details and their agent code/ID (a 4 digit number). Then fax said statement to +63 2857 8787 (quoting agent ID). I got email confirmation that Status Match for me was processed within 24 hours. Checked my account online, sure enough it was there. The only problem then is that your existing booking won't pick up your status (you'll need to either cancel and re-book or ring PC Rewards and get them to take out your PC number, then put back in). I used the first method, I presume the second would work...

Thank you Lindsay! :D

I have Hilton Gold status. I'll look for my last statement tonight and call them tomorrow.

True; but Ambassador is only worthwhile for those staying at ICs

The 20k purchase nicely counts towards your annual qualification requirements , so giving gold for > year and counts towards the points needed to attain platinum plus gives enough points for a stay at an HI ( with 5k left over) or Crowne Plaza making an effective reduction of AUD120-200 from the AUD266 cost.

Found it a worthwhile a purchase for the assistance in renewing platinum for next year

Hmmm, this is interesting. Technically then, if I status matched HH Gold to PC Platinum, then I would be eligible for a room upgrade on check-in for the HKT Holiday Inn  1THB promotion? Not trying to be greedy - just thinking theoretically...

Stayed at a Holiday Inn the week before last for 3 nites. Checked my UA MP account today and I got 794 miles credited to the account for the stay plus the 1000 bonus miles.

I've got another 3-nite stay in HK next week at the Holiday Inn Express so I'm look forward to a further 1000 bonus miles dropping into my UA MP account plus whatever I get in the way of regular miles.

The really good thing about this promotion is that the 3 nights don't even have to be consecutive. It's ideal for those of us who do a lot of 1 or 2 night stays. :D
