Current Hilton Honors offers

Crud AFF logged me off and I lost my reply.

NM - they probably assume your worse treatment as Gold will be enough to encourage you to stay at more Hiltons.

I doubt I'll get anything when I (on current plans) drop from Diamond to nothing. Then again some of my airline statuses seem to come with offers of HHonors Gold.

Does anyone know if Hilton has a best rate guarantee like some other programs?

I have been looking at accommodation for Scandic Hilton Strand in Helsinki for September and the best advance purchase rate is 185Euro while the advance purchase rate with breakfast is 193Euro.

I have found a rate with breakfast for 154Euro from HotelsRUs! I am guessing if I book this rate it will not count as a stay or receive HHonors points/FF points. I don't think the HHonors points/FF points are worth as much as the saving.

I don't think Hilton has a price guarantee.

If booked at other sites then do not expect any points or miles. OTOH if buy something from room service/etc they have been known to post ;) YMMV

154 euros is expensive. I thought that was out of your price range?

Yeah they do.

Our Best Rates. Guaranteed.

Have never used it. (Personally find hotel guarantees to be fairly useless due to the itsy bitsy conditions you need to be able to fulfil).

I found the Scandic Grand Marina to be a little cheaper than the other Scandics in HEL. Its a nice hotel with great views over the harbour, and in September the walk along the harbour to the main city area will be very pleasant. I have stayed twice at the Grand Marina and would certainly go back again.

I think it is useless. Especially this get out clause!

If you find a lower publicly available rate on a non-Hilton Family booking channel (except for "opaque" websites) for the same accommodations at the same hotel, same dates of stay, same length of stay, same number of guests and same room type, same booking conditions and available for purchase, within twenty-four (24) hours of booking your reservation, then fill out and submit a completed Claim Form within twenty-four (24) hours of booking the reservation.

I have sent an email to HHonors just asking for an explanation on the price difference. Interesting to see if they will reply.

Yes I saw that and it looks good. The best advance purchase rate on the night I am in Helsinki is 150Euro yet a few days earlier the same room is 72Euro. :(

The cheaper rate is likely to be on a weekend. If you are there just to have a look around Helsinki (as opposed to working in a specific office location), then I suggest the Grand Marina is a reasonable location. I like walking, and its a 10-15 min walk (at my walking pace) to the main train station and about 5 mins to the markets at the bottom of the harbour.

I am there for leisure not work. Only have an afternoon and part of the next morning.

The cheaper rate is not necessarily just on weekends. Some of the other days before and after my stay are cheaper as well. Would the best thing to do in this situation be to book on the flexible rate and monitor the advance rates regularly? If cheaper advance/flexible rates appear closer to travel then cancel and rebook.

Of course I will need a fallback option as the flexible rate I book may be a little more than I want to pay and does not get any cheaper. I think that is a good option with Hilton where you can book on the flexible rate and then cancel the reservation without penalty.

JohnK have you checked with hilton.co.uk? They sometimes have cheaper rates.

Then I would recommend the Grand Marina as a better option. Save the 30 Euros and enoy the walk around the harbour. We stayed there with the family and the kids were fine with walking all over the place, including all the way over to "The Church in the Rock", whichis probably about 25-30 mins walk at my pace.

You will need that extra 30 Euros to pay for the food! about the only affordable food for a family of 5 was the fast food restaurants like Hesburger.

I just received an email for a survey for the hotel stay at Hilton on the Park during Ozfest. I completed the survey and it only took a few minutes.

Does anyone know if the link for the survey has a marker of the person being surveyed? I put some negative comments about the 2nd floor pool view room I was allocated and wanted to know if anyone will look at this comment seriously. I am status nobody and my guess is they wouldn't care.

Don't know about your question JohnK, however I'd certainly be interested to know who else may have been surveyed. I certainly wasn't and I have a few things to say to them.

I didn't get a survey from this stay, although I have in the past. I do think, however, I was the only one there with nothing to complain about!

I have had the survey invitation email after each of my Hilton stays in the last 2 to 3 years.

I get approx 30% only. There aren't many that I really feel compelled to write a huge detail about however last weekend was such a weekend. I'll be sending off a whole bunch of comments anyway. :p

I'd guess I get them after about 30% of my stays as well. Most stays, such as the ozFest one, are quite uneventful anyway.
