Citibank raising the bar!

Just received an information booklet from Citibank detalining their new credit card product changes. Their calling the new card the Citibank Rewards Credit Card - Signature. It seems like a new product alongside Select, since Priority Pass membership is at a different tier (2 visits free per year). Also, they used the line "the new Signature card will be available from October 2011", rather than the other products in the brochure which says "Your Silver/Platinum card will be replaced"

Apparently, this booklet only goes out to non-QF enrolled reward members according to the letter.

Edit: The brochure has a link to the new product website, but I can't add it to the post. It's the normal citibank domain with newworld attached to the end.

they're the same - citibank select has always been a visa signature card :)

The booklet/website only shows Platinum/Signature Visa cards, with Visa/MC Classic cards. Looks like MC is no longer being issued for premium cards? Do they even issue MC currently?

i have a free-for-life plat mc :) a number of banks now prefer or only issue visa

Got my letter yesterday, I can stop worrying now!

I got my letter yesterday as well.

The feature set of the new Signature card is different to the Select. It seems reasonable to believe that it is a new offering, unless you have information that it is the old product being rejigged.

Banks seem to go through cycles on this.

I have a CB Platinum fee-free card and received my update letter today.

1.25 points per $1 (domestic spend) is a bonus, a quicker way to SQ KF redemptions here I come ;)

I have this card as well.... received my statement 2 days.. no mentioning on it... crossing my fingers hoping there is another letter coming...

I received the letter today. These changes may just keep me as I signed up for the bonus pts for transfer to KF in the first place.

I was also looking at getting a $1/1pt card like EDR but these changes have made me think differently.

Hey, I have the CB Gold, was just wondering what's this about domestic spend and international? Is the points earning different?

I am attempting to transfer points from Citi Select to Kris and if they have raised the bar somewhere it really is not too obvious. The time line quoted was "up to 28 days" so once that happens I will know the conversion rate from Citi to SQ Kris points. Their clock started on August 25 th.

I think the Citibank to Krisflyer conversion is 3:2 from memory. I don't expect this to have changed.

If that is the case it will be Dom Perignon and Krug in SQ First!

I transferred 690k Citi points to Krisflyer and checking my statement received 460 Kris points the same day, so thats 1.33 Kris points per $ spent.

This was done over the phone, so probably quicker!

For Platinum and above, there is going to be different earns on domestic and international spends. I don't believe that it is changing for (personal) gold cards.

Bought 200,000 USAirways miles this morning.

Assuming this is classified as an overseas spend at 3 points per $1 that was an easy 9,000 points.

Keep us updated :)

I'm still deciding if to buy the extra 50k needed for F Europe trip. I've got a 28degrees card but perhaps this might be worth it expense.

WA flyer I did get the 1.33 yesterday so I am very happy to have a Citi Select Visa at that Kris points earn.

My latest Citibusiness Gold statement came with a covering letter saying that the points earn cap is being raised from 1 September from 80,000 to 250,000 points per annum.

Before I went back to using my Citibusiness Gold I thought I would just confirm with Citi that my limit had been raised from 80,000 to 250,000 because Citi have a history of screwing everything up and its best to try and avoid problems than rectify them after the fact.

Somewhat to my surprise the nice young lady on the Citi customer service phone assured me that her instructions were that the increase in cap was only for Citi Platinum cards and that Citibusiness Gold cards were remaining at 80,000.

It was her turn to be surprised when I read out the relevant parts of the Citi covering letter amending the Citibusiness Gold T&C to increase the cap to 250,000. She told me that they had not been advised of this change and that she would have to check with "back office staff" on Monday. I'm not going to start re-using the card until I get it confirmed that my points cap is lifted.

Just when I thought it wasn't possible for Citi to have poorer customer service they go and prove me wrong, again.

I called and double checked before spending over the 80k cap as well and was told yes it had been increased to 250k.

I enquired online re the cap on my platinum visa as I seemed to have stopped accruing, and was advised that yes indeed I had hit my cap. The new cap limit would apply from my next anniversary date (only a few weeks away anyway) not immediately.

Not sure what the paperwork says as I threw mine out, but something to keep in mind if you have been told over the phone that the new limit has been applied to your account.

I think the only way I will be able to tell is if I put through a small transaction on the card this month and then wait to see if I get points for it or not.
