Hi All

Looking at a Christmas present for the wife.

What I want to do is give her a weekend by herself at one of the Crown Plaza's on the Gold Coast (Australia). She is always jealous when I travel (for work) and get to stay at nice places (without any domestic distractions like your partner or kids).

I have stayed at most of them over the years but I don’t exactly use the more “female facilities’ like spa’s and getting manicures/pedicures.

Anyone had any relevant experience?

Stayed at the Crown Plaza with my wife overnight a couple of months ago, but alas neither of us used the said spa facilities.

We were upgraded to the separate Tower and received bowl of fruit & chocolates (as Plat amenity), which although it was more of a walk from Reception and dining. Having said that, we didn't eat in as we found local places for dinner and breakfast much cheaper.

Certainly, the CP is better than the HI. Not sure whether the HI still is undergoing renovations.

Hi Lindsay

Thanks for the reply.

Looking at putting the accom on PC points.

There are 3 Crown Plaza's on the GC, which one did you stay at?

Thanks
Gaz

The three CP's is quite a recent thing.

The Royal Pines resulted from a rebranding a couple of weeks back.

The Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise and the Gold Tower were originally one CP, but split into two. Lindsay would have been in this and got an upgrade into what is now the Gold Tower. When I stayed there, I was also upgraded to the Gold Tower but with the split I am not sure how the upgrades work now.

Best Idea I've heard today! Hmmm ... given the current sales on 'til end Jan 4 for Feb/Mar travel may even be more possible. ;)

Gazza, as oz_mark advised in his post, I was at the CP Surfers Paradise. The split between CP Gold Tower and CP Surfers Paradise has happened since I was there (September) - would think that they would share the spa facility. The CP Royal Pines was complete news to me, so now I am waiting to find out more on their packages and award availability - but it may take some time for Management to work out mix and give details to PC, so they can be loaded into PC web site.

No award availability is coming up though.
