Cheapest way to get a few AA miles to stop miles expiring

Hire a Hertz car and credit to AA. The cheapest way I have used to advance the expiry date. Usually takes 7 to 10 days to post

The AAdvantage eShopping Toolbar allows you to earn AA miles for searched (1 mile for every 3 eligible searches to a max of 100 miles per month). Its a really easy way to keep a small trickle of miles entering the account. But it can take some some time the miles to post after the end of the month, so not going to help you now for expiry at the beginning of April. However, it can stop the problem from happening again.

I had the same issue a few months ago and found a way of getting points via their Facebook page. It did take time though, so that may not be an option for you.

Thanks for reply,

Where can I go to find out if the donating option will work ?

Also I think you can buy miles for $60. Anyone done that ?

thanks might be cheaper just to donate a 1000 at no charge.

According to the rules, i think donation will work as it must be classed as a "award redemption".....or is it....maybe purchase is better cause you get certainty :

A:Your AAdvantage miles do not expire as long as you have qualifying account activity at least once every 18 months. Qualifying account activity is defined as any AAdvantage mileage accrual or AAdvantage award redemption.

A: All you need to do is earn or redeem miles on American Airlines, AmericanConnection, American Eagle, or an AAdvantage participant at least once every 18 months, and your mileage expiration date will automatically be extended for an additional 18 months from the date of your most recent account activity.

Hi

My AA account has 60,000 miles which will expire by 1st April if I have no activity.

Any way I can get some quick cheap miles ?

Or how do I use miles in Aus for a flight from Perth to Sydney ?

EDIT: Would donating miles save my miles ?

Just ring AAdvantage and ask for PER-SYD availability on your chosen date and book it! It will cost 10000 miles in Y and 17500 in J.

I know I have left this a little late, but i have 1600 AA mile expiring tomorrow and wondering if there is a cheap wy to find a few miles to keep the account active in time... Not sure if its even worht saving the 1600 miles as they don't amount to much, and i actually find the USDM program much better value, but if it was like buy a pack of staples at Office Depot or something for $1-2 i might do it, except even if i buy today before the end of October the miles probably won't hit the account until November sometime so is that too late? Not sure its worth buying another 1,000 miles a the moment for $30... Do AA have like a small charge to keep miles active???

Given expiry is tomorrow, you have left it too late for most options. Purchasing miles is about your only choice if you want to keep them, but for 1600 miles I would not bother. Your entry point for an award in Aus is 10,000 miles.

If you had some something a month or 2 back, you would have had more options, including things like Aadvanatge eShopping where you can earn miles with places like Amazon or just for using their search engine.

It used to be signing up at points.com would net a few AA miles.

YMMV

There's a magazines for miles site which I'm thinking of using to get the Economist online access for cheap. It's 1700 miles for one year access

Amazon? Tell me more :)

Went looking again and Amazon is not showing any more. That is a shame as I was planning on looking for some text books at Amazon shortly. The list of retailers can be seen at the Aadvantageeshopping.com site.

Hi all I have 1000 points expiring any options to use them?
Won't be flying with them in time and don't want to add to them.....
Are they gone?

Going by the forum I guess that are AAdvantage miles.

With 18 months of no activity they will be gone.

1K? Worth maybe $15-$30 depending on how they are redeemed.
