Booked QF2 on 26 November from SYD-MEL, before heading out of OZ for Christmas holidays. What can I expect from this flight? How differernt is it from an ordinary domestic serivce? Better catering? Will inflight entertainment be swtiched on? Will I be able to request for an upper deck seat? ( No QF status)
Pretty much looking forward to this as it'll be my first time flying in J.
:D

Hope nothing unexpected happens. I was looking forward to flying in the A330 from SYD-MEL on QF188 a few months ago, and this flight didn't even stop in SYD..went to MEL straight. Had to settle for a crummy old 763..... :(

Are you flying business class?

Expect:

domestic standard catering
skybed
entertainment switched on (if they don't ask them to!)

Seats can be pre-allocated on the domestic sectors of international flights. So call QF now on 131131 and ask to pre-allocate you seat. If you have a business class ticket, then by all means request an upper deck seat.

Don't expect too much in the way of catering and service for a 1 hour flight.

I've flown QF26 from BNE-SYD several times and the service is OK.

The food is just as good as DOM J. But on several of these flights J is almost empty. Although Upper deck is usually full.

I don't buy J tickets. I have far to many points to Burn so i usually only buy a K class ticket. Get double SC's and costs fewer pts to upgrade.

QF 25 from SYD to BNE is alittle more diffcult to upgrade too... Usually get given the catering isn't available on the flight.. So i check in 3 hours early and probably 50-60% chance of the QC dragoons allowing me the upgrade..

I think the out bound flights are usually more difficult to get an upgrade on..
but since QF26 has already been to AUK I don't think they care..

Changed my flight to QF188...
Which are the best seats in J on the A330-300?

Can't wait! First time in business class! :D

I would say that all the skybeds are as good as each other on the 330. Just depends on your preference for window or aisle

For an international flight (ie a long sector), my personal preference is for a centre aisle seat - i.e. a E or F seat. I don't care which row number.

Last time I was offered 2B and changed it for 5E.

BTW, can Business customers travelling on domestic legs on international flights use the Business check in at Area D in SYD? Or only at Area B?

(This is somehow mentioned on the QF website)

Thanks!

I could be wrong, but I think, that if it is normally a 3 class plane then you can pre-allocate into a first class seat which is being sold as business.

There arn't many flights operated domestically with 3 class aircraft and some (perhaps all) are sold as 3 class (e.g. SYD-MEL)

How do you book first class domestically? QF website doesn't let you.

I know the 3 class 747 flights between BNE and SYD are sold as 2 class. J pax sit in first and premium Y pax sit in business.

Book somewhere else other than qantas.com

Dave

I believe that's been stopped now.

You can find the fares on certain sites, but the conditions say "J Class". Have tried to find seat maps for the fares offered, but they usually say "not found". Don't feel like doing a booking to find out...

Still available for awards though.

Unfortunately all the int/dom BNE - SYD flights I've done have been on 2 class 747s.

Usually get the nose, 1 A/B or 2 A/B.

I think the service is always a bit better than dom J. Food is the same. The cabin crew are a bit less officious and coughty.

I actually try and get the int/dom aircraft if I can.

Cheers

I assume by "Business customers" you main those booked to travel in the Business Class cabin of a flight.

If so the the answer is absolutely Yes! So can any QP, PS or SG passenger travelling in whY.

One last thing, is the inflight bar of QF 188 stocked during the SYD-MEL sector?

Thanks?

Probably, but since it was closed the two times I have done this in J, I have been unable to look inside.

Ok, what I really mean is that I have not seen it available during that short sector.

haha okay...
just a little too excited about my first trip in J :) ..pipe down..pipe down...

I have 1 UC and need to use it soon.

Can anyone tell me the difference between economy and business class on QF513 BNE-SYD?

This is an early morning flight. Would it be better if I used UC on an evening flight with dinner service?

What length trip can the 1 UC be used on? Anything under 600 miles?

Search is your friend!

You *might* get a hot breakfast on the 513, being an 0810 departure - cannot remember offhand what the cutoff time is.

I myself would be using an evening flight to sacrifice a soon to be dead UC, as I think it provides better value for bUCk. If I had a few of them, I would save them for long-haul, but since it is about to expire you might as well use it.
