Another Celeb denied access to Qantas Lounge [Dress code]

Surely the equal treatment of men and women (which I agree with as a general notion of behaviour) is not really relevant here (despite her posted comment). He was not deemed to be in violation of the DC and she was. Simple as that. Should he have been denied entry because, as her partner/companion, he should share her fate? No, that's clearly not right... so I kind of don't see the issue.

It's all about her clothing being deemed by this one agent at least, as against the DC. It's only "about" him in respect that she dragged him into it when he's dressed differently to her. It would only make sense if they both wore matching outfits - then it would not be fair if he was let in and she wasn't.. otherwise... meh

I have no idea who this chick is. Does she work on breakfast TV?

Not sure, but she may have been modelling a prototype for Jetstar trackie dacks, from the look of that photo. Possibly a Jetstar ambassador.

Since edited: Lisa Marie, well, that would be something else. 😎

But Eva Marie? 🤔

One hears things - Let's just say that It's far from clear that the photo in question is exactly what she was wearing when refused access.
I'm still thinking that there needs to be clarification of important rules like third party airline pyjamas before we give any exposure to a former WWE entertainer

Eva Marie denied access to Qantas Business Lounge, seems she is wearing trackies.
Same stuff I wear into Qantas lounge when flying international.
Is there more to ok this or lounge dragon antics ?

They have the dress code. Onus on everyone to adhere or run the risk of being denied entry. Simple as that. If we comply - no problem. If we push the envelope we may fall victim to its inconsistent enforcement.
I get so sick of this null argument.

If I am flying on a long flight on which I know or suspect I will not be given pyjamas I always take them.
So for example when I flew SCL-SYD and knew I would not be in J I took the pjs from SYD-SCL and wore them in the W cabin.
But I change into them after takeoff.
I wouldn't dream of disembarking let alone entering a lounge in pjs.
Not even QF pjs.
Does anyone actually do this?
(Disclaimer: sometimes I fly subject to stricter dress rules than other pax.)

Nothing like seeing a couple in the DXB F Lounge in their grey kangaroo suits, then back on the aircraft. 😳

You are incorrect in this instance. David and Natalie Lukic own Ryderwear and the business was started in and continues to be ran from Adelaide. They are major clients of ours so have met them several times.
Eva Marie is an ambassador of Ryderwear so to speak and was in Adelaide to launch Ryderwear’s new fitness app
Fascinating. Now why has no one heard of her.
I am in the opposite camp from Kyle, though: I won't consider flying Qantas if they get rid of their dress code.

Although I may agree with you in many respects I will stand by my comments. I travel in the business world of suits, my teenage daughter does not get this, she will save and spend what I consider to be a stupid amount of coin on sneakers and torn clothes, I don’t get it but that is her choice. A while back I did not get the ripped clothes thing but am coming to terms with it. I am still trying to understand why a good set of runners that used to around $50-100 now costs a **** load more.
So in your opinion torn clothing is as good as anything else? Every child wins a prize.

Who will you fly with if that's the case? Not many options in Aust.

If your daughter doesn't want to go to the lounge that's her choice to make though.
My daughter is not yet a teenager so when she goes to the lounge we still have some say in what she will wear.

I did not say I agree with torn clothing however there are lot of people who choose to wear it and I do not understand why individuals choose to spend coin on 'designer rips'. Sure I have a couple of pairs of jeans that are 'torn' they are 'worn out' and maybe if I had any interest in fashion I might call them 'designer rips', I do not wear them to the lounge.

For the record I agree with dress codes. In the Defence Force in the late 90's we were not allowed to wear jeans or tee coughs into the Mess however the safari suit was still considered acceptable  , casual was pants and jacket no tie required, a jacket and tie was required to enter the Mess after 6pm and evening meals.

I also agree with @DC3 "Activewear sounds like a term dreamed up by some PR guru, to promote sportswear as high-end fashion", my activewear is an old trackie :)

I think that if he was wearing bike shorts or skins and a lycra Tee, then yes he would absolutely have been in gym wear, but he was not. She on the other hand looked like she had just jumped off a cross trainer... If they let her in dressed like that, then how can they stop someone who has genuinely just jumped off a cross trainer, ready to fly back to the US...

Vintage thread, sounding eerily familiar. Sure we’ve been here before.

Could you just hang fire a moment while I nip down to the supermarket for some more popcorn. In my best dress pluggers.

cheers skip

Perhaps Admin could just create one thread for "Celebs who throw a tanty" and move all the repetitive remarks in the same .... pile.
Good point, I think one of the free to air 7,9 or 10 have a similar concept “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here” full of people that most have never heard of. On Aff, I seem to recall seeing a similar concept/ thread “(when) DYKWIA throws a tanty” or something like that. :p Not 100% sure but also could not be bothered looking for it.

... and for the Playground. 😀

It is a bit ridiculous that you could where pretty much whatever (without being ridiculous) in the First Lounge and then be denied access at the domestic QP in the same gear.

I am not sure what the fuss is about and why a dress code is even needed. Don't know how what someone else is wearing effects ones own use of a space.

Would you want people dressed like this in the lounge?

I think this comes down to a lack of self awareness.

It’s a shared space.

The way each person in that space presents and conducts themselves contributes to the mood, feeling and character of that environment. Same reason some restaurants have a dress code.

Having people in there presenting in a slovenly manner absolutely drags the place down.

For many users of the lounge, the whole point of being there is to specifically avoid the “bar scene from Star Wars” which is sometimes evident at the gate area.

For others, who may be infrequent or first time users of the lounge, this might be a rare opportunity to enjoy a ‘special‘ travel experience. That special feeling tends to dissipate when ‘Dazza’ stomps past in rubber thongs, ill fitting footy shorts, and an undersized blue singlet.

As mentioned earlier, the dress policy is hardly onerous. The bar is set super low. Tshirt, shorts and sneakers gets you in.
