No exlerience of this but tthey might expect name to match with credit card

Never happened to me - if this is a concern and you are at least 2 people you can always get "somebody else" to pay!

Very hard to expect that these days given people can pay using their smartphone and smart watch

What is the process to get half price meals? Is it just a matter of booking with the Accor Plus number and then paying for the meals after you finish?

No need to book, just show the card when you arrive. Keep in mind 50% discount only applies when 2 ppl are dining, it’s 33% for 3 ppl, 25% for 4 ppl and so on.

Exactly. The premise being that the cardholder eats for free.

Unless alone when its only 25%. I
was caught out on this when I took mstr andye3 out-as he had a child meal it didn't trigger the 50%

So children isn’t counted as a second guest? Is there any age limit for children?

I think its to do with the menu choice. If they order from the adult menu it should be ok.
By extension if you have partner+young children (eating off kids menu), the adult food should be 50% off

Got a call from Accor plus in reference to an email I sent asking to pay for membership to get platinum status back. Advised that I can pay for Accor Plus and get Silver status...which was confusing since I'm currently Silver due to amex. Went back and forth for a bit and eventually it clicked for her and told me she will speak with manager and call me back. Got a call back and advised I can pay $355 (or $395?) for accor plus and get Gold status based off my current points balance and not points earn in past 12 months as it was under 10,000 pts. I asked about receiving Platinum status and was told nothing she can do and that I will need to earn it off points/stays.

Do you think it would be worth it? Just for the upgrade opportunity? I just wont have access to lounge, not an issue since we're travelling with a youngling, or comp. breakfast, unless I book a room with breakfast.

It looks like Accor Plus are no longer able / willing to comp Platinum status on renewal. Best they can do is $355 with a couple of breakfast vouchers Gold doesn’t give you lounge access & complementary brekkie in APAC, you need to factor in the free night (worth close to $300 in some hotels eg Sofitel Darling Harbour - provided you find availability) food discount and access to red rooms promo, so I’d say still worthwhile renewing provided you make good use of the free night!

Essentially Amex has paid Accor for the Accor plus membership and then if we want gold we have to pay an additional $355.

Looks like I may end up paying for gold as I need to book a couple different stays for friends and myself early next year. Hopefully they will credit points for the friends room to us and push us over to Platinum.
couple of breakfast vouchers
Did you get offered breakfast vouchers as well?

Just found this online via flighthacks.com.au and at Accor Plus and Accor Business Plus

Pay $140 Aud for this ibis buisness card and you get upgraded instantly to Gold + 800 points. Better than paying $355, or whatever they are asking us to pay now onto top of what Amex pays them.

Save money with the ibis BUSINESS card!

One thing to note from the comments is that having an existing Accor Plus (hence Silver Le club) and then applying for Ibis Business (hence Gold Le Club) is that you can't connect the accounts (i.e. use Ibis business to upgrade Silver to Gold). I'll sign up to Ibis Business later on and let you know.

Also check this out for other countries Accor plus cost and number of free nights. Some comments suggest they will send card out to the hotel so you can pick it up. Might have to sign the missus up for a card before our next trip.

So I just bought the Ibis Business card for 90 EUR. Instantly upgraded my Le Club card from Silver to Gold and was showing in my Le Club account online straight away. Having trouble logging into my Accor Plus account.
Expiry is for end of next year.
Need 60 nights or 14,000 points to qualify for Platinum.

I thought Accor Plus and the IBIS business card could not work together? i.e. it is one or the other but not both.

Well, from the comments in ozb, it looks like you can have both but have to keep it separate on different accounts.

I just remembered I've been paying for my Accor Plus directly for the past couple years and didn't renew this year hence why I can't log in. So had to go into Amex to re-apply. Applied with the same email as the Ibis business, which is what my Le Club Gold is using. We'll see if it links or not. Also applied under a different card and different email in case first one doesn't work. Will update.

Yes they have to be on different accounts - so annoyingly I have Accor Plus Platinum on one email/login and Accor Le Club Platinum/Ibis Business on my other main one.

I've never really understood the differences between the 2 programs besides Accor Plus gives discount dining/drinks and Le club gives the room upgrades/lounge/breakfast. Or is that essentially it?

So now that I've got my Le Club gold and re-applying for Accor Plus. Should all my stays be going to the Gold account and just keep the Accor plus card for the dining/drinks?

I only use Accor Plus for 2 things - one to book a room, only if its cheaper (but if I do this I always email the property and move it over to my main Accor account for points earns, recognition etc) or for the free stay

When would booking using Accor plus be cheaper than Le club? Thought they would have same discount (i.e. 10%)?
