When would booking using Accor plus be cheaper than Le club? Thought they would have same discount (i.e. 10%)?
Not quite sure how or why but the members price for Accor Plus is often cheaper and sometimes significantly so - so I always check both now

With 50% off dining do you have to physically carry the card with you or can you just show them the card through the Accor Hotels app as they are the same number.

Update to renewal to Platinum when criteria not met - last 2 years was offered auto renewel to Plat level apon payment of ann fee - this year NO GO - after repeated efforts and repeated calls they will not budge - I have stayed 25 nts in Sofitel Hyland Shanghai and best they will offer is Gold - not only do they lose me but they also lose the Ette as she will not renew also.

EL access attached to Plat is the only benefit for me - rest is useless - so next year will be ZERO stays in Sofitel - fun times huh?

Further update - after total 5 convos bw Accor and myself they still will not auto renew to Plat as they have done last couple years.

So far 2018 I have stayed total 22nts in Accor Hotels - all the same hotel - with 5 more nts booked in diff hotel Dec 23 to 28 giving 27 nts total for year. Now it is clear that technically I do not even qualify for Gold let alone Plat - but if I renew I get soft landing back to Gold

BUT - I clearly explained to Agents that only Plat benefit I value is EL access in the hotel I stay and if no lounge access then I will not stay 1 nt in Accor hotels. So they lose my mship / Ette’s mship / and 27 nts Accom in Accor Hotels - I will be back to ZERO stays with Accor.

Still no joy - so last resort is contact Res Mgr at partic hotel I stay and lay out the details - fantastic response from Shelly (Res Mgr) ‘Do not worry Mr Elite we will still honour your rqts same as before if you are Gold’ - ie EL access / free brekky / book cheapest room and get upgrade to Junior Suite.

So renewed today - no doubt this may be unique circumstances but just thought I should post it as it might assist someone else.

Might be missing something here - but why are you expecting Platinum when you haven't stayed the required number of nights?

Yep dj you are missing something - there are a number of AFFers who were previously Accor Plat members as a legacy of a certain CC - once that benefit ceased on the card for last couple years we were auto renewed to Plat provided we just paid normal fee - this benefit has now stopped and I have been trying to drag one more renewal to Plat out of them - I was far from 'expecting' Plat renewal rather 'hoping' to retain Plat Status - as it is now pay the fee and receive soft landing down to Gold even though I do not qualify for Gold.

Does anyone have any recent experience on how long it takes to get Accor Plus (and a new associated Le Club membership) from Amex after requesting through the online Platinum Benefits portal? Also, does it automagically renew each year while you keep holding the Amex Plat or do you need to do something?

I requested it in my wife's name since she's the main cardmember, although I have an existing Le Club membership.

According to the Amex website 10-15 days. I don’t know if that’s accurate or not.

I ended up ringing both Amex and Acoor to shuffle it along as we had travel coming up and my husbands paid Accor was due to expire. It seemed to help. From memory once your signed up with Amex it will automatically renew

I requested it on 7/1/19 and it arrived today, so exactly 2 weeks. When I login it says no stayplus benefit is available (I have done a number of searches with different dates and locations) so possibly that takes a little longer to come through?

Do you mean you still have to pay a fee to get the Gold soft landing, even though AMEX still gives you Accor Plus membership with the Platinum card?

Yep that’s about it - Plat gets you comp Silver - nigh on useless - Gold not much better but I paid anyway cause ATPIT I was still considering canceling Plat - then the almost 2x pts value of Plat dawned on me - so I will keep it.

As it turns out loss of Plat no biggie -my #1 girl at my #1 Hotel has guaranteed me Plat benefits no problemo entire year - amazing what a SQ F Amenity Kit will yield in return when gifted!

When I spoke to Accor Plus on the phone they told me I would drop to Silver, but when my card and membership details came through I was given a soft landing to gold. Probably a mistake on their part.

I was told 100 times no chance I would be comped Plat as I have been last 3 years - I finally relented and paid fee for SL to Gold - guess what - profile still showing Plat

They got what they wanted (money), and you got what you wanted (Plat). Wins all around :)
