Thanks for the advice and useful info on your approvals. Hopefully I can get this sorted tomorrow when I have the rejection letter in hand in about a week!

That was limit given to me when I applied for the Reserve. I was perfectly happy with that since I only got it for the travel credit and the odd statement credit offer.
Same here; I wasn't complaining about the $3k limit, I was merely demonstrating I was already very close to the maximum limit AmEx is currently happy to extend to me. I think $3k might be the lowest credit limit on Reserve; I would have been happy with a limit of $5 as I have not touched the card since getting it
They informed me on the phone I'd need to wait for the rejection letter before I can proceed to review my application and I will then try transferring my credit from one card to another. I'm quite happy to have finally moved up to the higher card and want to extract the most value.
I also note that the letter I received with my charge said I received an additional Plat Card for the primary member, but when I asked about this on the phone they told me this is no longer offered in Australia. That I wouldn't be able to get an additional card in my own name. This seems to be different advice to that listed in the referral threads.
Glad you managed to get the Charge, but are you sure you want to keep it with the upcoming devaluation and the $1450 AF?
Just call up to get the additional card. The additional card usually has your name on it with an ‘a/c’ after it. Is meant to be like a supplementary card so you can separate out different types of expenses eg for business purchases.

An update on this is that the agent today got this sorted for me... by sending me a form in the mail that I will have to fill out and either mail/fax/upload back to them to get the second card.
Thankfully my partners supplementary card was sorted over the weekend, so I also applied for Priority Pass and now have the 4-6 week wait for that to arrive.
Only one more card to sort now... the Reserve!
from memory, it was within the 1-2 weeks timeframe
You can also call up after a couple of days and get the details to register an online account and use the app for digital access if you need to use it before the pp card arrives.
I tried to apply for the Companion card (hold PC) and when I go to the application I get a message saying I already hold it, anyone else seen this before? I hold the explorer card and recently cancelled the Palt Edge so I can apply for the Companion card
The application forms lists a requirement of ‘household income’ at $65k. Has anybody with personal income of 0 (but sufficient spouse, partner etc) applied and been successful?

How long after receiving and activating the Reserve (as a companion to a Charge already in use for a month, and with the $450 travel credit redeemed) does the first annual $400 travel credit become available? I activated the cards on Friday and was hoping to apply $400 against Virgin bookings before double status credits end tomorrow.
That's interesting.I got the same message and called them and got the application form by email within 24h. I filled the form and sent them and got the approval fpr the PR next day.
That's interesting.
I've had the PC for a year now and have been unable to get approval for the Plat Reserve. I hold no other credit card other than one with a $4000 limit. Account is always in good standing.
I applied about 3 months after getting the PC, which was approved instantly. No phone call, no payslips to upload, Nothing. The first time I applied I had to fill out the forms by printing them off and emailing them back. I've just recently used the Web version, this time they called me asking if I applied for the Explorer card !? After I said no, I applied for plat reserve, they confirmed the details I had provided (with payslips) and declined it on the spot.
Can anyone provide advice? It goes without saying my credit score is good, with no infringements/bad credit.
I'm unsure. Before I applied for it this month, I called through to complaints asking them to help. They spoke to new accounts, and new accounts said there is no reason on their end as to why if I apply this time, it would be declined. And yet here I am...I recall somewhere that Amex has a 6 month "wait time" between successful applications for new/increased credit, maybe this is due to that?
