Can these spammy/scam pop up windows when using AFF be stopped. Even worse when the work IT blocks the content as a know malicious website. Consistently only get these when AFF is being used.

I don't seem to get such pop up windows. Even the pop-up blocker or other ad detectors I have on do not detect or block any such activity.

Been getting them for a long time. Pretty random. There can be weeks or even whole months and they don't appear. The only constant is AFF across both the work PC and my personal PC. I'm pretty sure the intranet didn't cause the pop up today. Similar for the Qantas website.

I've never had a single pop up from AFF.
If I were you I'd be running a malware / AV scan.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

I can add that when logged-in to AFF, I do not get pop-ups.

I haven't seen this particular pop-up but have seen other strange things happening on AFF over time. Perhaps a setting is temporarily enabled (yes a bug) that allows these popups?

Strange. .. I agree with snabbu - chech your desktop for malware.

... never seen such on AFF.

I use ad-block. Nothing here. I have experienced on websites where I had accidentally downloaded malware. A system restore fixed it.

Download a malware checker. I suspect you've got a suspect add-on in the browser

Adblock, does that stop revenue being generated by the ads or does it just "hide" them?

If this only happened on my personal computer I'd agree. But that screenshot is from a corporate IT environment on which I have zero ability to add anything.

Nothing here either.
Suggest the problem is at your end medhead.

I'll advise admin just in case.

See above.

I have already raised this twice - ignored.

Things that I would try out (may be limited on the workplace system, but have a look see):
  • Clear all (or as many as you can) cookies, which will log you out of AFF, then re-login.
  • Install another browser and see if the same thing happens if you access AFF on it. Alternatively, open up a private browsing window (i.e. a "sandbox" with no history or cookie access) and see if you can replicate the problem on AFF through there.
  • Check your browser's plugins and see if there's anything odd in it. If so, consider disabling or removing it.
  • Install an adblocker and see if that suppresses the ad.
  • Perform a malware check on the system.
In any case, after trying or solving through these means, you may need to invest a few days or a week of use to make sure that the "fix" wasn't temporary, i.e. there's something else causing the problem.

I'm a Gold member so I shouldn't get any ads. I can access a report which shows sources of ads or ad-like behaviour which is being requested on the AFF site. I'm not fully fluent with that report but a scan to the best of my ability shows that even if there appears to be some sort of ad-calling behaviour on the site, there doesn't appear to be anything immediately sinister.

I do not get pop-up ads, but the normal ads (between the various sections) can be very slow to load when using my tablet browser/s.

These very slow ads stop the rest of the page below the ads loading, making the whole sites experience quite poor. I have not noticed the same issue on any other website using the same browser and tablet. I have FTTH, so bandwidth is not an issue.
